what is the source of this idea?

The pharases brought a woman accused of adultery to Christ to be juged and He told them "let he who is without sin cast the first stone", and her accusers left.

In an earlier question it was suggested that Christ meant by this "let he who has not slept with her cast the first stone"

I have never heard of this idea before, is there an authoritative source that it can be referenced to?

that is not an interpretation that i have ever read about. I wouldn't believe it.

That is crazy, I was taught that the purpose of this story was that all sin was equal and they were judging her for a specific sin...I really doubt that all the pharases had slept with her..

I'm not sure what Bible that person reads out of...but i cant find a translation that words it that way.

Not a normal interpretation, but given the writings of others about the Jews of that time, it might be a very accurate interpretation.

Note: Not saying that it is right or that it should change your beliefs, just a comment on the differences in societies.

I actually like this quote. Its one of very few quotes that I have used in my life that come from the bible. Its really a good book, but people got carried away with it...

Anyway...I think you are really stretching this. I think its pretty clear what the jesus character meant. "if you wish to stone her her for sinning...go ahead...but only if you have not sinned"

It kind of just means don't be such a friggin hypocrite.

Really who on earth is sinless.

Yahshuah is saying, Whoever think he is better than her judge her.

Pretty much putting everyone in there place.

Saying no one can judge but Yahweh.

    No one is without fault.

This is why i do not like christianity. You can interpret it to mean anything you want it to mean. The source is most likely a misguided follower.

Essentially it should mean that only the sinless can punish her for her acts, otherwise they are merely hypocrites.

i dont know but clearly he was trying to make a point that NO ONE has a right to judge because we are all guilty of something.
