Was Piquet's accident deliberate?

It was all a little too well timed, I wonder how much Alonso paid him for that?

The FIA will probably think it was deliberate and try to disqualify Alonso and give Massa the victory.

Even if they had deliberately planned on before for Piquet to hit the walls, the victory wouldn't have been given to Alonso easily. Alonso only became first because of Ferrari's mistake at the pit stop and so there are a lot more factors to Alonso's placing at the top of the podium.

But it sure helped him a lot, with that crash and the usage of the safety car.

He could not open the action? That's wierd. I would suggest that he have it looked at before he goes out again. The firing was by no means accidental. He saw it as the only option to clear the weapon. It was deliberate and if it was in a restricted area, it was unlawful. I mean, what was he doing in a restricted area with a loaded shotgun? My guess is that he is going to have a hard time giving a credible answer. If it was at a gun club, there had to be others there. I would have sought someone's help and let him or her take a stab at opening the action. When it comes to malfunctions, common sense must be used. I don't know all the details of the situation, but I would have done every possible before I would consider discharging the weapon. If he was out in the woods alone, he was breaking the law.

You DO realize your question is an oxymoron? A 'deliberate' accident?? However, whatever Piquets intentions were, chewing a wall in front of a whole planet wasn't one of them. especially when he's getting a reputation as a car-wrecker anyway. Sometimes, lady Luck chooses you to smile on. On Sunday,Alonso was that someone.

LOL. That's what i thought. Because Alonso when in to pit and right then Piquet hits the wall. Maybe, But I'm glad that Alonso won. Took him a while but he finally did it.

I think it's time for you to lay off the tin foil on your head. It's affecting your thinking.

Difficult to pass Alonso? He took off like a scalded cat on the restart and no one got near him. Same thing on the second SC period. I guess it would have been difficult to pass a guy that is rapidly disappearing into the distance.

He was quite clear about why he pitted early. They started of the super-softs, which everyone hated, and he came in to change to the prime tires and get some clear space on the track.

I did wonder that (long before ITV pointed out the irony), but I don;t really think that anyone would coerce their driving into forcing a safety car. At the end of the day, lady luck shone on Alonso, and he grabbed it with both hands and made it stick...

I know the FIA may have but a 'fixed' tint on F1, but the incident was far from deliberate.

The car was heavy with fuel, Piquet bottomed out and lost control. Hardly a great advert for Piquet driving next year and his career, so he would no way do this on purpose.

I get the slight feeling in this forum that we all think EVERYONE is against McLaren and Hamilton.

No, Piquet wouldn't risk his life in smashing into a wall, so his team mate could win, how silly!! That's like saying a football, go out and LET the other team win, if you're going to enter a competition, you must want to win it.

    Don't be ridiculous

I don't think it was deliberate, but any betting person would have put money on Piquet to have an incident. Pat Symonds included.
