yes.but not to say "a part".it is to donnate the whole right anatomical lobe {2/3} of liver.the left lobe will grow and compensate, but it is still a dangerious surgery because of the high risk of post operative hemorrhage.the donner is to kept on anasthesia for 48 hours to keep low blood pressure,,,,overall we advice it only in the same family because of the high risk.about the donner ,a healthy person is needed and age between25-40,,no smoking no drugs no alcohol to help to use low dose of anasthesia during surgery and the following 48 hrs, body measures follow the general body mass index.i want to say again it is not a routine surgery.

I don't know that it's possible yet but I'm sure if it's not yet then it will be soon. Since the liver can regenerate itself from one fourth of its size then they can probably grow them in labs or something. Maybe if you have a lot of money and know the right people then I'm sure it could get done. I would imagine that you would have to be 18 and be at a healthy weight for your size. There would be many tests to determine donors I would think also like for any kind of diseases.

Yes it is possible for someone to donate part of their liver. Its a living transplant.. Your liver is the one organ you can not live without hense the name. But what most people dont know is that your liver is the one organ that can also regenerate itself. Meaning that when they take part of someones liver to transplant it into another, both peices will regenerate back to full size or at least to a fully functioning organ
