In NJ, when you move into an apartment, does a landlord have to notify you that there is a sex offender living in the apartments also?

He might not be "required" to notify you, but if you have children, then common decency would say that a landlord should direct you to a police department database that would have that information.

No, the sex offender has privacy rights. If you're curious you can look the person up in a registry. Most registries you can search by your address and it'll show you the closest offenders
