3 hour glucose test tomorrow?

Question

I have to go do the 3 hour glucose test tomorrow morning. I had to do it with my first as well but I can't remember are you allowed to drink water? I know your suppose to fast so I wasn't sure. Also when am I suppose to start fasting? I'm going at 8:00 in the morning. Thanks!

no water and i believe it would be 8 pm tonight, but give them a call and see what time

You need to fast for 12-14 hours before, so stop eating around 6 p.m.

Drink lots of water. Being dehydrated makes veins smaller and harder to find, so it usually makes it more painful. After you have the glucose drink, they'll tell you to drink LOTS of water for the subsequent blood draws in the next few hours.

You are allowed and encouraged to drink water.  As for the fast time, I seem to remember it being a 12 hour fast, but you should call the lab to check.

hi there it is a 12 hour fast you can drink water up untill 3 hours before do not please do not drink any water after you have had your glucose drink i was told it was ok by friends but in the end sipping on my water made me have to do it again good luck

With the first test, I never fasted, only for like 2 hours before my test. The three hour test is to test how tolerable your body is to glucose and how long it takes your body to regulate back to normal levels.

I had gestational diabetes with both of my kids. You are not supposed to have any water or anything because the water will flush your system. Plan on starting to fast after midnight. Good luck! I couldn't stand having to drink that crap!

Hey, I am going for mine Thursday, you have to fast for 12 hours before hand, so you can't have ANYTHING but water after 8:00pm tonight. Good luck, hope I helped.

I had to do this last week. They said for me to eat dry toast and a glass of milk the morning of the appt. And they let me drink water. They said it makes better results. And it turned out everything was fine.

3 hours? Why 3 hours... they are supposed to be only one hour! You are not allowed to drink water during the test but before I think is fine.

You are not suppose to have anything and you should not eat or drink anything after mid-night since you appt is at 8:00 Good luck to you!!

You probably shouldn't eat anything after 8pm, You can drink water. I suggest bringing a water bottle with you.
