Why do people ask questions and don't listen to the answer?

It seems like people ask inflammatory "questions" and are just looking for people to agree with them. I see this a lot in people baiting others who don't agree with their religion or politics. I've seen many questions asked, and the asker basically ignores anyone with an opposing point of view. What is the point of asking in the first place?

If you're just looking for a "yes man," why don't you just go get some friends who will agree with you? No need to get validation from a bunch of faceless internet strangers.

Update:

Even if I happen to agree with the "questioner's" point of view, I hate it when he/she completely dismisses a valid argument from the other side. What's up with that?

There are three reasons such "questions" are asked in my opinion.

    1. To spread lies and propaganda about another belief.

    2. To have others agree with you, thus "proving" you're right.

    3. To report those who correct your misconceptions and block them so that their logic does not get in the way of your lies in the future.

Because people like to act all high and mighty....I have noticed with any of the religions that some people like to preach to the point where I want to choke them j/k astagfirullah. I hate when people do that it drives me nuts...and as you have already pointed out people only ask questions when they want you to give them the answer they already have or to reinforce what they have said...

Most people do not like to admit when they are wrong, that and they become defensive right away....people are taking religion to far that they are ruining it for everyone else.

This is all human nature anyways...dunno if they helped or answered your question in any way....most people just don't like to be wrong and when it comes to religion that'ss a whole new ball park entirely people start to become all righteous...like they are the next prophet allu alim.

The above answers are correct. Validation, that's all it is.

The interrogatives are really indicatives or imperatives.
