I train programmers at the world's leading medical records software company. Previously I worked as an electrical engineer and a public school math teacher, also coaching baseball and wrestling. And I think both Democrats and Republicans are crooks who have taken away our God-given freedoms.

  • Do cross country skis typically come waxed?

I just purchased some cross country skis (skate style) online and was wondering if they typically come waxed already. If not, then I'll surely have to make a trip to the local ski shop to get it done before I hit the trails.

  • I think I need a new bike saddle?

My current bike saddle is over 6 years old, and I'm now starting up more Ironman training. On my last ride, I started to feel numbness around the perineum region. I know that I need more time in the saddle in general (that last ride was only 40 miles or so), so I worry that this problem will come back. I probably either need a new saddle or a readjustment of my current one.

What do you cyclists suggest about a new saddle? What should I be looking for?

  • How did my fantasy football league draft?

We just completed a live fantasy football draft and I wanted to see what people's opinions of it were. I'm sure there are some LOL bad moments, but how did we do overall?

I'm not going to mention who I was, other than the fact that I was not the one drafting Peyton Hillis #1 overall, but I'd like opinions on more than just 1 team of course.

Starting players: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF. 6 bench players. Scoring system below.

  • What kind of a costume will still be good for running?

I'm going to be running a 10K or half marathon near halloween and of course, costumes are encouraged. What I don't want is a costume that will make it incredibly hard to run in. What kind of costumes have you seen or suggest that I make/buy to run in?

I was thinking a Luke Skywalker on Dagobah as one, where I could have a Yoda backpack and put my camelback pouch in it. Other suggestions?

  • How does one use the accelerator key for a command button in a PowerPoint slide?

I've added a command button to a power point slide and specified an accelerator key, but when I run the slide, using the alt-accelerator key doesn't seem to run my VBA code. What's going on there?

  • If I sell my house for a loss, what's the tax consequences?

I bought a condo back in 2007, it's now worth about 100K less than it was back then. I've since moved to a new state and will probably sell the condo I own. If I do sell it for 100K less than I bought it for, what are the tax implications? Will I be taking a huge deduction for this and possibly pay no tax for that year (I make a lot less than 100K at my job)

  • What should the criterion be for lettering in baseball?

I'm the new head coach of a high school baseball program. The only problem is that we have only 1 team. Instead of a varsity, JV and frosh team, it's just a single team. Not all the kids will deserve to letter, and I want them to earn their letter as a point of pride.

The team has very little baseball experience and we will realistically lose most of our games this year (going .500 would be great), so I don't necessarily want lettering tied to achievement (although some of that can be used).

What should the criteria be for lettering? I'm thinking a couple of options. Percentage of games played, Percentage of innings played, # of wins + saves (for pitchers) etc.

I'd to know from you geographers if Key Largo and Key West are considered to be Carribbean islands, or islands in the Gulf of Mexico (doesn't really look that way to me) or the Atlantic Ocean?

  • Programming something in windows, quickly, intuitively, graphically?

It's been several years since I've programmed something, and I'm looking to develop a quickie program for a Windows platform for my new employer. What's the best platform or programming language to develop this? I need some sort of intuitive GUI. Even though I've been out of programming for years, I should be able to pick up the nuances of any programming language given a bunch of help guides and examples to go off of.

I realize that this question is a bit vague, but what I really need is just some ideas of what to use. I have no clue what Java is, it's come after my time. There are probably others out there that can help me as well.

I'm trying to do something (without a lookup table) that will change a number like 25 into words ("twenty-five"). Is there a formula that will let me do that, or do I just need to create a big lookup table?

  • Why are we still arguing over Obama's birth certificate?

Now, I'm NOT an Obama supporter. Didn't vote for the man who is now President-Elect. But this whole birth certificate stuff is just nonsense.

In order to believe that Obama was not a natural-born citizen, you have to believe that:

    1) He was born in Kenya (okay)

    2) Either a) someone with his exact same name (and father's name) was born on the same day in Hawaii and had a birth announcement in the papers OR

    b) His parents (or someone close to them) decided to make a fake birth announcement in Hawaii newspapers on that day.

    3) There was such a conspiracy that they KNEW that Obama was the "messiah" and would one day be President, which is why it was so important for him to fake natural born citizenship (as opposed to naturalized citizenship)

    4) That despite wanting him to be President someday, they gave him his father's middle name Hussein, which is clearly of Arab origin and would most likely scare off middle America.

    5) That Hillary Clinton's crack-job team of investigators would have failed to bring this up in the Primaries.

Like I said, I didn't vote for the man, but isn't all this nonsense? Why does he have to dignify these baseless lawsuits with a response?

  • Are business to business sales taxed at the same rate as retail sales?

I mean this: When we as consumers buy something in the store, we have to pay a sales tax, governed by state and local rules. When businesses buy items from other businesses (for example, car manufacturers buying tires from tire manufacturers), do they have to pay the same sales tax rate that the rest of us do? Or is there some sort of corporate sales tax rate that they have to pay?

What if the transaction is across state boundaries?

Whatever the answer is, doesn't the cost just get passed on to consumers? If so, how much of the cost my car is just from all these taxes?

  • Why does Sarah Palin get so much criticism for support for Bridge to Nowhere?

I'm not a McCain/Palin supporter, but as far as I can see, it's the job of the governor (and of senators and congressmen) to get money for their own state. I have no problem with Palin asking for money for her state to "build a bridge" and by that, I mean keep people "employed," because it's no different from the millions of dollars of pork that politicians like McCain, Obama and Biden wanted for their states as well.

Is it because she became a hypocrite when she claimed to have been against it? All I know is that if I were living in her state, I'd WANT a politician who wants to give me money, no matter how useless the project is.

  • What NFL rule change would you suggest (and why)?

We've seen calls that the referees get "right" but we the fans think it's dumb, because of the rules. Or, we've seen referees get a call wrong, acknowledge they get it wrong, but they can't do anything about it because the rules don't let them overturn a call in a specific case.

Then, there are rules that have just been there forever, that don't necessarily make sense, but is now a part of the game.

What rules change would you suggest? Anything is fair game, from replay rules, to the number of downs, to celebration rules and stuff.

  • Why do people ask questions and don't listen to the answer?

It seems like people ask inflammatory "questions" and are just looking for people to agree with them. I see this a lot in people baiting others who don't agree with their religion or politics. I've seen many questions asked, and the asker basically ignores anyone with an opposing point of view. What is the point of asking in the first place?

If you're just looking for a "yes man," why don't you just go get some friends who will agree with you? No need to get validation from a bunch of faceless internet strangers.
