Why would a 'christian' group picket a soldiers funeral?

How can you people say they are not christians?? They are preaching the word of god. They accept jesus as their savior. They are just as christian as all of you.

They are saying what all other christians say, that gays and unbelievers are going to hell.

Why are they not christians? They are saying exactly what all of you say, only louder.

Just because you don't think they are christians doesn't mean they aren't. They are exactly like you....just more public.

Face it, these hate-mongers are saying exactly what all you christians believe....no matter how you pretty it up.

First of all, I would like to comment on something I am seeing here. The members of the Westboro Baptist Church ARE real Christians. They profess belief in Jesus Christ and the Christian God, therefore they are real Christians. Sorry, but you can't use that "No True Scotsman" stuff to disassociate people from your religion simply because they are doing despicable things. I can certainly understand not wanting to be associated with them, so I do sympathize. But still, the No True Scotsman line of reasoning simply doesn't work.

Yes it is sick. They take the Bible and twist it around and preach their hatred and even have their young grandchildren spewing that stuff.

EFHutton and ASL Terp, show me in the Bible where it states that God hates homosexuals, or anyone else for that matter. Ironically, you're starting to sound just like Phelps & Co. You don't know Jesus & God, so don't pretend to try and look like you understand the bible.

This group of so called Christians are a bunch of sick hate filled idiots who I know do not represent christianity at all. I suspect the pastor is a closet case. I am an atheist, but even I know they are not following the teachings of Jesus. If there were a hell these psychos would be there.

Those doing the picketing apparently do not know what being a Christian means. They are all fake.

They're complaint is that the United States encourages homosexuality, and so their god is punishing us with war and death. These people are truly offensive and have their "holy" book to back them up. If you take that book literally, they are right.

Watch the documentary, "The most hated family in America". It's really disturbing that people like this exist, and it's sad when you think about it, how they indoctrinate their children into that lifestyle.

Because they are so busy demanding respect for and acknowledgement of their beliefs that they feel it is perfectly okay to trample on the rights of others. Not to mention they don't understand that it is in EXTREMELY poor taste and only makes them look like EVIL bigots.

Westboro Baptist Church is comprised entirely of hate-filled ignorant bigots.
