Anybody a pregnant teacher?
I work in a school and my due date is about a week and a half before the end of the school year (well the last day kids will be there.) I am trying to plan when I will start maternity leave. I know things happen and I might have to start earlier than expected but a target date is what I'm trying to figure out.
How long before your due date are you or did you plan on starting your maternity leave. This is my 1st pregnancy and I'm still in my 1st trimester so I have no prior experience at this!!
Thank you

i am as teacher, i am due october 4th...so last friday was my last day...i worked up until the week before the baby is due...i feel as though i would be fine to still be at work, but i am enjoying the bit of time to rest when i want and get a few things done before our second little guy arrives. so, i started the school year, but as i said worked up until the week before i am now due! i guess for you though, you will have to gage for yourself how you will be feeling, etc. to come up with a start date.....i hope i might have been some help to you. congrats and all the best wishes to you!!! enjoy your pregnancy~!!

Hi! I was a teacher too, but my first trimester started in the spring of this year. I decided not to return this fall because I would have had to leave mid year. If I were still teaching though, I would just plan on leaving around spring break. Let's face it, not much learning happens after that point anyway. Kids are jazzed up for the coming of summer and teachers are trying to cram the last stuff in before end of year testing. That kind of stress I always hated and it's a good time to bow out. It works well because by that point you will be getting tired again and will need some time to rest and prepare for your new arrival. Plus it gives the interim teacher an opportunity to start "fresh" after a break. Course it's up to you and your principal, but that's what I would shoot for.

I worked right up until the Friday before my due date. I was late so I had 2 weeks at home before baby came. I am a control freak so I planned far in advance so everything would be perfect for my sub. She was "on-call" for the weeks before my due date. Best wishes to you!
