What do you guys think?
I heard/read the new (revised) bailout plan was passed by Senate. Do you guys think it'll pass by the House or will House destroy it like the first one???

I hope they destroy it. Government shouldn't be rewarding blatant fiscal irresponsibility. It's a little hypocritical how our culture has such a hard on for cut throat, dog eat dog capitalism and yet when an unrestricted free market economy fudges itself, (and it inevitably does) suddenly government regulation is ok!

I hope it passes, the congress has allowed this crisis to happen through a lack of oversight. I am aware that enforcement of laws is squarely in the executive branch, but the congress has been a silent partner in all the deregulation that led to this mess.
Now, when it is time to pay the piper, the house, who are all up for reelection, does not want to take action so close to election day. The bill would pass easily on november 5.

I hope they do destroy it because I heard that taxes will shoot up like crazy, and I don't want to pay taxes just because some company thought that investing their money in some worthless crap would be a good idea. i think that the company should be held for responsibility, but that means that economy will go down, so we are screwed either way...
and just now on Yahoo!, they said that they passed it already...

There's no question in my mind that it's going to pass the House this time.

To be honest, it is hard to say.
700 Billion is really nothing, it is only the cost of 10 modern top of the line fighter aircraft.
What the issue is philosophy. How the government should be involved.
Most other countries are supporting their financial institutes, only in the US do they want to hand over 700 Billion, no strings attached.
The government needs to do something, but nobody really likes this deal.
It could go in any direction.
