How do I hook up my XBox 360 Controller to the PC...?

How do I hook up my XBox 360 controller to my PC to use as a mouse? I bought the cord. Two people at Gamestop told me it was possible, but we can't figure out how to make it work. Is there an internet link we can follow?

You cant use it as a mouse, but you can use it as a gamepad in games. I do it all the time!

Once the software is installed you can plug your Xbox 360 controller into your USB port on your computer. To ensure it is working correctly select Game Controllers in the Control Panel in Windows. Not all games support the controller; you can check the game manual to see whether your game does.

If you're talking about connecting the wireless Xbox 360 controller with the play'n charge kit USB cable, that doesn't work. The cable only transmits power, no information. You need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows to do that.

If its a wired Xbox 360 controller, it will hook right up.

You can't, sorry. Gamestop isn't the best place to get advice for things like that.
