I am nervous and I have a big day tomorrow.. How do I relax and fall asleep?

ok calm down, count to 10 when you count relax all the mucels in your body starting with your feet and work your way up, lay for a couple of min. if you are still not asleep count backwords from 100 and if that doesn't work walk around, type do something that might make you tired, eat a small helping of turkey! it has stuff that makes you sleepy, but don't eat anything else with it
if you still can't sleep, grab a snack bag, fill it with cool water and lay it over your eyes and that gets you really relaxed! it feels really nice
then do evrything over again until you fall asleep

That is a bummer, it happens to me, too. Exercise. Not too close to bed time since you'll wire yourself up and have more difficulty sleeping. But during the day, get some exercise. Run/ walk for a couple of miles, ride your bike, play w/ the dog, swim, just keep busy. Before bed, mix a mug of hot milk, a little vanilla extract (1/8 of a teaspoon or less) and some sugar. No hot chocolate- too much caffeine in the choc. Herbal tea - no caffeine - play some cards/solitaire if you're alone, ask for a back rub - really relaxing. Visit a jacuzzi if you have one nearby - that will poop you out! If not, try a hot bath. Why not use bubble bath - so cool. You can do the kid stuff and really pamper yourself!

when i cant sleep i usually go downstairs and turn the TV on but put the volume really low and turn it to a channel that has something playing all the time like discovery or A&E i find the sound in the background and the faint buzz of the TV knocks me out cold everytime

There is a mental exercise that always helps me whn i am nevous. I imagine taking all my negative thoughts and energy and try to focus in one spot, prefferably the hands. Then, blow all of the negativity off of your hands.
Also, a nice warm cup of tea or hot milk is nice, too!

Try meditating on Gods' word. Don't knock it until you try it!!! You'd be amazed at what you could read in the book of John, in the new testament, that would totally relax you.
