Update:

Thank you... I understand which I have to try hard and take time to run each number by number, I just thought there's gotta be MASTER RESET to crack this out, may be sooner I don't need it, just want to figure out if I have a case with this kind of number lock, which once I forgotten I might know how to handle it after all. Thanks for the infos

One method that works on some of these lock types is to put the corner of a business card (or something thin like that with a tip) between the digits. Turn one digit until you feel it catch. Repeat the process for the other two digits. Once you have all three you may need to turn all three digits in the same direction one at a time until the lock opens. Good luck!

You should try each number in turn starting from 000 up to 999. All together that is 1,000 different values. If it takes you 3 seconds for each then the total time required cannot exceed 3,000 seconds which is less than an hour.

    Notes:

    A) this briefcase is not very secure, a thief can also open it in as short a time.

    B) the psychological way is to try to remember the circumstances when you set the combination and then what prompted you to choose the particular setting.

    C) a competent thief would also know that for such a simple three code solution that the tumblers inside the lock can probably be felt to engage. Try rotating each one and feeling the way that they are resisted by the springs stopping rotation between particular numbers etc.

    D) if you have real valuables inside next time invest in a padlock of a good quality and a metal attachment so that it cannot be prized away from the case.

    E) why lock it at all, the whole case can be easily stolen and then broken into. In other words the sole purpose of a latch on a briefcase should be to hold it shut. The combination lock is a stupid sales gimmick

If you want to salvage the lock you have two options. 1) Take it to a locksmith. See if they can pick it, crack it, and maybe reset or figure out the combination for you. 2) Try the old 001, 002, 003, 004 method until you go crazy or figure out the com (then don't lose that info).

If you don't care that much about the lock/briefcase, but what's locked inside I'd say pry it open with a screwdriver, bash it open with a hammer, or some other similar method.

Since it's only a three digit code (0-9) for three numbers, there should only be 10X10X10 choices.

If you have the time, and don't want to break it open, just take a few minutes and try them all. You might remember it in the process.

    Hope that helps.

If you do one every 10 seconds that would take you 100 minutes (< 2hrs)
