What should I do with my hair?

Question

my hair is almost shoulder length. My natural color is a medium brown-ish. The rest of my hair was colored black with permanant dye. I haven't colored my hair since July but now that it's growing I would like to try something different.
Maybe a chocolate brown with colorful purple streaks?
My aunt does hair for a living and I've colored my own hair since I was 12. I like to try new looks.
Any Suggestions with photos would be extremely helpful. Thanks!!!

and without having to change the overall color
