Catholics should read the bible since its where their beliefs come from, just as in any religion you need to understand it and know what you're talking about. Not all do though.
I've known catholics who are utterly proud to be catholic and yet they don't know anything about catholicism, never read the bible, aren't practicing, and don't go to church (...if you fit this you're not catholic i'm sorry - same for any religion if you don't practice or anything - by association or just because you said so does'nt mean you are i nmy opinion)
I also know catholics who always go to church, read the bible constantly, and pray every night.
There isn't any generilized answer its based on the individual.

<<Do Catholics read the Bible?>>
Yes, of course.
<<Why do you think your answer is true?>>
Because it is. I'm Catholic. I read the Bible. I've seen every Catholic I know read from the Bible.
<<Is it based on your personal experience or something someone told you?>>
Personal experience/observation.

Not only do Catholics read their Bibles, they can rightfully claim to have been the first to have translated the books that we know as the Bible into a common vernacular. Latin Vulgate ring a bell? And there were others.
It was a Catholic (Erasmus) who provided the mss. that was used for the King Jimmy Bible - a fact that many evangelicals would be horrified to discover, lol!
Paula - those "extra" books were in the original editions of your beloved King Jimmy Bible. They were removed by American printeters after the Revolutionary War to maximise profits. The RC doesn't hold them to any higher regard than protestants do. That American evangelicals are largely unfmailiar with them is mostly an accident of history.

Yes, I'm Catholic and I read the bible. It is also read at Mass. My answers are based on Church teaching, which is based on the Sacred Tradition of the Church and Sacred Scripture.
God bless.

Yes, I am a catholic and I read and meditate on the Bible daily. I read the three Mass readings that are proclaimed at Mass for the day.
Go to http://wau.org/meditations/current/ and see the readings for the day
Catholics can attend Mass every day of the year.

I'm a Catholic, yes, we read the bible but we don't memorize it..doesn't have to, sincerity is important so in my heart its all in there..my faith is always strong as a person..I don't need to prove to anybody,if I'm telling the truth or not, I know myself, religion is something that I don't want to discuss or start an arguments, just respect it that way.... the purpose is to have peace and don't build walls on loving others...God Bless.
