=P Fungus Amongus...?!?

Fungus Amongus. I recall hearing this term several times as a kid. Even now, it seems hilarious. I've done some homework, but come up with nothing. Anyone know the origin of it?

Update:

Spongebob, eh.. Maybe I could ask him? He should know. =]

The horse angle is interesting.. thanks! I'll have to look into that.

Come on, people! More answers. I seek knowledge, here!

I first heard this phrase spoken by someone who was taking care of horses that had developed a bit of fungus on their skin. As she was mixing up her potion to put on the affected areas she referred to "the fungus amongus" that she was treating. This was at least 35 years ago, and she'd been doing this sort of thing for years. So I expect this is a fairly old expression.

The phrase may have been more widely popularized in 1995 when a band called Incubus released their first album with that title.
