A Life Passage
By Jonni
Walking down the busy street,
darting in and out
of crowds of people,
all rushing to get
nowhere, in particular.
Single minded in my determination,
time is the essence,
rushing, always rushing,
to get from here to there.
Never noticing the life
surrounding me,
the teeming activity
filling the street.
Stooped old lady
blocks my way,
fumbling with her bags.
I stop and reconsider
my chosen path.
And help her.

Imagine what a much nicer place the world would be if everyone offered a helping hand to just one person each day...
I enjoyed your poem and the thought it provoked!

A nice twist and one with a message. Rushing through life without a regard for humanity is a cold life indeed.
Please tell me what 'walking down' implies? Do you walk up or walk down or just walk? You could also pare some useless words such as 'in my' on the first line second stanza. Overall, I like though. My compliments.

The daily getting around:
By your poem it is about
people who are getting
around either by foot or
bus.
Getting somewhere only
to be nowhere in particular.
It is a stress because
they are trying to be
from one place to the next.
So much activity the streets
are crammed. Its a good thing
someone noticed that elderly lady.

One never knows who that person is that we lend a hand to..
Today they are in need tomorrow becomes brighter..
I like the sudden change of mindset.. in helping
We are all rushing like ants in different directions.

Wow, a lot of improvement since I saw your last post. I have to agree with Neon. For myself this is very thoughtful. Keep writing!

That is destiny you are talking about. Some times, end objective(s) justify means, even without us knowing so until after wards. And that, IMHO is called Fate, especially when those objectives are humane in nature.
A well penned good message! Welcome home, Jonni.
