Why do some bosses, and teachers, think a person won't arrive late, or get sick? read the details?
i went to a club organization earlier today- this has been a busy week for me applying to graduate schools, being in school clubs, and such, i am secretary here, and vice president there. i was 5 minutes late. i was scorned for being late, criticized for being late, and questioned for being late...not to mention i got an angry voice mail on my cell phone, stating are you coming, and why are you late? usually i am never late to anything!
i am a human being- so there are going to be some days- in my life- where i am going to be sick, i am going to arrive late, and i am going to be messy...i am a human being...i am not perfect...
i am probably late maybe like 2 times a year, for work, if that, i try not to be, and as far as being sick, maybe once every 3 years (i have a lot of sick days saved up)...even though dealing with school and work, it might be like every 2 years i'm sick...but i am careful...
i don't get why some people think i can't make mistakes, i am a human, with flaws, i am going to show up late, get sick, and be messy, like everybody else, that's just the way it is, i just won't do it everyday, everyday is a problem...
i think some people have such high expectations...i'm going to get a B or a C in a class, even if i work my butt off, because not everyone can get an A in every subject...
i am just wondering if anyone else feels like they are put on a pedistal, like they are some kind of god or something, when in actuality, i am a human, and i am going to make mistakes, arrive late, have pimples, get sick, have a bad hair day, etc. i am careful, but well some things you can't control, like heavy traffic, car breaks down, bad menstrual cramps, or getting the flu...
geez..
i think some bosses and some teachers are absolutely ridiculous with this...to the point they don't want me to be late by a minute, or yet alone take a sick day or 2...
btw, this is in the United States..
I am a college student in Florida...
steve b you are an idiot. never did i compare myself to greatness.

I know exactly how you feel!!
Urgh, I hate that. I am involved in a lot of stuff, but I usually balance it all out really well. But then, when you are late just one time everyone gets mad at you!! However other people can be late every day, but no one cares.
I guess its just because you have higher expectations but teachers/bosses need to understand that not everyone is perfect.
I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Some people are so self centered that they don't recognize greatness when its in there presence. Even when they do, then they fail to have compassion, realizing that your human and that you have a personal life too. Unfortunately, some people you just cant change and those same people get offended very easy. So I think your wise enough to know which battles to fight and which ones tho just let lie.
But on the other hand
Whats that saying ? With greatness comes great responsibility.
Oh... by the way...please dont get messy lol . and obviously your not like everyone else.

I gotta say that understand thoroughly. i've got have been given a chum who grew to become into entering right into a convenience save minding his very own employer while an uninsured, unlicensed unlawful motorist drove into him and the save he grew to become into entering into. Now he could to visit the Dr. as quickly as a month to have fluid drained from his spinal twine. no person will hire him even nonetheless he's prepared to sign a workman's comp waiver with a view to artwork. assurance companies won't insure him. he's compelled to be on social protection and not even getting adequate to assist his kin much less pay his own loan. He would lots relatively be working. This state is a 'no fault' state and the guy who hit him and the save have been given a $40 5 high quality from a decide who suggested there grew to become into no longer something he ought to do.

With so many people not holding themselves to high standards these days, it seems like even those of us who seriously try to complete all of our responsibilities in a punctual manner, get chastised as if we are in the "do it all the time slacker club" which we are NOT.
A lot of people choose not to differentiate between those of us who try and those people who don't and just across the board FUSS.
Sorry for your bad experience.
