Is a Last Minute Dress the Best Option??? ?
I am getting married March 14th. It is very likely that I will become pregnant before then and may be right now. If I am pregnant right now, I will be due around July 20th. Should I wait until March to buy my wedding dress or should I buy a slightly bigger one now and take the chance of it not fitting later? What are some possible problems involved with waiting a few weeks prior to buy my dress? HELP!!!!
What about dresses that just flow out from the bottom of the bust area, are they pregnancy safe to buy now?
We want our kids to be about a year apart. We already have a 4 1/2 mo. old son. The Wedding is timed so my fiances father can attend it. Also, the dress xajide suggested is beautiful and may just be the exact style I will get, and it looks like that style will have room for a baby bump if necessary.

I agree with the first answer. Wait until January to allow yourself ample time to find a dress you actually love. Go with the empire waist dresses, much like this:

If you start to show by your wedding, this style will work best with a pregnant belly. By January, you should also have a better idea of what your size will be come the big day.

That is really a tough situation, and not ideally the best for wedding dress shopping. Is there a major reason why you can't wait (I.e. fiance is in the military?) But that's not what you want to hear since you just want a solution and not a lecture, right? ;)
Everyone knows that each women is different (as stated correctly above). Some women begin to show quite a bit within 3 months (my sister in law did!). Some grow a lot sooner, some later. Some slowly, some suddenly. And yes, you don't know how your proportions will be affected and to what degree. Or how fast you will grow and by how much. Or when. What if your "big" dress ends up not fitting across the chest? Or not at all? Yikes.
I suggest that you wait and go for a "wrap" type gown that can adjusted, or an empire. Pregnant brides often end up with a flowing empire waist.
Your absolute best bet would be to have a local designer or seamstress custom make a gown to fit you about 1 month before the wedding with final adjustments the week before. This way you can get the exact size you need to fit, with few adjustments and less hassle.
I had a custom made gown to fit (although I wasn't in the same situation), and it was worth every penny. I think you will be very happy and it will be MUCH less stress to deal with. Pregnant or not. Do pick out your designer/seamstress NOW, and book them early.
Good luck!

I think you're going to have to wait until it's closer to the date and you know a) if you'll be pregnant at all and b) how far along you will be. There are too many factors -- a flowing A-line dress might seem safe, but your boobs might explode with the pregnancy and the dress won't fit. Or you might buy a roomy dress but end up only being 1-2 months pregnant by the wedding and will have wasted the money on the dress.
Within about 3 months of the wedding you should have a better idea of where you are. If you aren't pregnant then, I assume you can go dress shopping and maybe choose a free-flowing dress that fits (since three months won't have a huge impact, right?). But you can use this time to look around and find out which styles/dresses/designers you are most interested in. Maybe even pick out a few options now (both for if you are pregnant by then or if you're not) and then when the time comes a lot of your work will already by done. Good luck!

Is there a reason for trying to get pregnant before your wedding? Just curious. Cause the planning is going to be stressful and not good on the baby. If you have the choice of waiting until after, then I would, plus the honeymoon will be a lot more enjoyable if your not pregnant.
But if you are or decide to get pregnant before the wedding, then the free flowing dress will be the best option. Even if you get one 2-3 months before the wedding, you still will not know your exact size at the wedding. I grew the most my last month of pregnancy. And your breast grow accordingly.

I would not wait all the way until the month of the wedding. I would look to buy one in January, because if you wait last minute you may not have enough time to find one you like. I think the flowy ones will be a good option for you though, if you are trying to get pregnant

why don't you try a goddess style gown? or empire waist? i am having my bridesmaids wear that style, and one just had a baby, another may be pregnant by wedding day. the goddess/grecian style gowns are very flowy and flattering if you were to be pregnant on w-day.
also, i personally would not wait to order a gown past the time when the dress shops start charging rush fees. it is likely that you'll have to get your gown altered, whether you are/are not pregnant, so you may as well get one and be sure it is here early.

Hi and congratulations!
I would definitely wait until around Christmas to look for something. Surf the net to look for ones that you like and see how long it would take to order, etc. Or...go in to your local bridal shop and inquire. I would definitely go with a maternity gown, not just a "bigger" bridal gown.
As another posted mentioned, it's not just your belly you need to worry about. Everyone is different in how and where they "gain" during a pregnancy (bust, waist, and, of course, belly). Once it gets closer, then I would go shopping.
Good luck.

I personally like the flowy look the best for pregnant brides anyways...
Regular wedding dresses just look weird once they're altered to accommodate a baby bump.
I'd go dress shopping a few months before your wedding and find a flowing gown that you really like.
Maybe something like this?

Buy a slightly bigger one and buy early so you will have plenty of time for alterations! This is still risky because you have no idea how big you will be or if you are even pregnant.

You might have to get what is available -- and not your "ideal" dress or color -- Keep an open mind -- Try Forever 21, David's Bridal, JC Penney, Nordstram, Kohl's, etc. - Go - Shop- Now!
