Why is it that when I do something nice, no one remembers?? But when I commit a mistake, nobody forgets?
Has this happened to you too?

I don't think that's always true. Though it is a lot of times. And yes, it's happened to me a lot too.
I think people naturally expect to be treated nicely by friends and acquaintances. So it takes something exceptionally nice for it to be remembered for a long time.
I don't know what you mean by "mistake" ... but if you're talking about something that results in someone having their feelings hurt, the hurt can last much longer than the good feeling left over from the good you did.
Though people should forget your mistakes eventually ... or at least overlook them after a reasonable amount of time. If you have a friend who holds a grudge for too long, maybe they aren't really a friend. Maybe you need to go friend shopping for some new ones :)

Amen to that one. I haven't had any monetary award OR time off award at work in 4 years because my boss always manages to recall something that I've screwed during the previous year, but he can never seem to remember all the stuff that I do correctly. Of course, he's also the idiot that village is missing. He isn't really missing--I'm working for the a$$hole.
Someday, this too shall pass away--if i don't first!

That's just what people focus on. call them 'haters' or 'jealous' or whatever u want. The difference between being happy or unhappy in the middle of it is whether you care so much who remembers anyway.. doing something nice is NOT doing it for the recognition (which is selfish) but because its nice and thats it. Just get used to it..it will always be that way.

Your question is an old proverb.
We are all expected to do good. To do otherrwise is a curse.

yes. ppl for some reason only expect good things from you so when you mess up they wont let you live it down hoping that you wont mess up again. i happens to me and it makes me feel unappreciated.
