What do you like about LDS?

Yeah I know i disagree with their theology, but there are things that I really do admire about the LDS, such as how strong a connection they have with their families and how they are close to their religious community and how much they participate. I also like the idea of storing up foods and other supplies in case of financial lack.

What do you like about the LDS?

Please be positive.

Even when I was inactive, I still always treasured the family togetherness that most LDS share. Also, most LDS that I've met have had an almost hippie quality to them, they're so laid-back. I strive to be like that, because I'm typically hardcore everything, I just see that it gets me nowhere, lol.

I might have a problem with some of the people once in a while...but other than that..What's NOT to love about belonging to the Restored Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter-days? Having access to the truth is always a good thing.

I like modern revelation, living prophets, an open canon of scripture, personal answers to prayers, patriarchal blessings, financial aid when I was in trouble, a deep understanding of the scriptures, seminary and institute classes, temples, Eternal Marriage, the Holy Priesthood, priesthood blessings, the Holy Ghost, church dances, Boy Scouts, callings, their practical approach to religion, and their faith in God.

Before I joined the church - I admired the other kids in school, they seemed to have something to live FOR - they weren't just passing through the day or through time....

I'm a big fan of family game night. It's amazing how the simple act of getting together once a week to play Scrabble can make a family closer.

Well, I'm LDS, so I guess I'm pretty biased, but I like all of the things that you mentioned--as well as a lot more.

I like having a living prophet and 12 apostles.

Those nicely dressed gentlemen that go door to door are very polite.

But I disagree with their theology entirely.

Having been one, I was quite enamoured of what I perceived at the time as Joseph Smith's somewhat systematic approach to patching the holes in popular christianity. It turns out that in so doing, he exposed other flaws, and ultimately, for my money at least, proved fairly conclusively that christianity cannot be fixed, but at least he tried - I admire his reasonably scientific approach to theological reformation.

I LOVE that I get to be with my family forever... and that I belong to the true church, Christ's church.
