Do I need to include my last 2 years as a stay at home mom on my resume?

And if so.....what do I say?

I took 2 years off from my 11 year banking career and I'm looking to get back into it. How do I explain my past 2 years of "unemployment" on my resume in a professional way?

I know some moms try to tell a potential employer that their experience as a mom will help in their new career... and maybe it will, but I think this is the wrong way to go. I would not make an issue of your two years off. Just present your resume with the job experience you had two years ago. You can mention that you took time off to devote to your family when you go in for an interview, but also point out ways in which you have stayed in touch with the business world during that time.

Personally, I applaud you for taking time off for your kid(s). Good luck in your return to work.

I never put dates on my resume, only experience, wait until you get an interview to explain period of unemployment and most likely it won't even be an issue as plenty of women also have done the same thing and continue to do so.
