What was the fourteenth amendment, what did it do, and what is the Civil Rights Act of 1866?

    The fourteenth Amendment makes anyone born or naturalized in the United States a legal citizen. This made slaves legal citizens, which was the main intent of the amendment at the time. the Civil Rights Act of 1866 gave freed slaves more rights.
