20 years ago when we visited relatives in New Zealand they were using LPG in their cars and the fillings stations all carried one pump for LPG. We have been back several times in recent years and it is just as popular there. Their cars generally run on both, you switch from one to the other as needed. The only downside is the space the tank takes up in the boot.

This summer, the Iranian government outlined its latest push—60% of new passenger cars and 80% of public-transport vehicles have to run on natural gas (or be gasoline-compressed gas hybrids). The Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition thinks Iran will wrest global natural-gas-vehicle leadership from Argentina soon.

The U.S. still trails Iran, Argentina, Brazil, and even Pakistan in getting natural-gas vehicles on the road.
