Which is harder when quitting smoking..?
the first few days, or a week or two into it??
I have been smoking for 6 years and I am quitting.. I haven't smoked a cig since very early Tuesday morning. I'm not finding it that difficult. The first day I would crave one every now and then, but it's quickly gotten better and less and less. Like I not longer think about one while I'm driving... I don't wake up wanting one, I don't want one after I eat (probably because I don't stop eating!! lol). I'm doing this completely cold turkey.
Have any of you stopped smoking and found that the longer you go not smoking the harder it gets for a bit?? That's what someone told me.

Quitting smoking is tough. Many people struggle for years in giving up this habit. A good friend of mine was a smoker for thirty years. He quit cold-turkey nine years ago and never looked back.
A few years ago, the only way to quit was cold-turkey. Nowadays there are many aids to assist you in giving up cigarettes for good.
You should note that the tobacco industry has been shown to have manipulated the level of nicotine in cigarettes upward, in an effort to make it harder for smokers to quit. So you shouldn't feel that having trouble with giving up smoking is due to any failure on your part.
You might want to speak with your doctor about a program to help you in successfully kicking the habit once and for all.
Stick with it and hang in there!
Take care and I wish you well.

I gave up smoking cold turkey to.
Yes, it did get harder over time. The real test comes when you actually go out to clubs or pups when you would usually smoke. Thats the REAL test.
I didn't really find it that hard to quit. But exactly as you mention, it kinda peaked and then started to drop off.

There are probably as many different reactions to behavior modification as there are people who go through it. It is similar to what has been written about how people adjust to the death of an important figure in their lives. One book described five phases that were observed in adjusting. Follow-up showed that not everyone goes through all five of them, then it was found that there was really no common sequence either, that is, no one phase always preceded a certain other phase. No question about it, we are all different.
Some people suffer acute addiction and withdrawal, others simply find that they need to change certain habits, like lighting up whenever starting a phone conversation, or ordering a drink.
Deepak Chopra wrote an interesting book titled "Perfect Health". He describes three types of basic human temperaments, or genetic body types, and from Indian medicine prescribes diets and exercises particular to each of the three types. Briefly, they are, thin restless Vata; enterprising efficient Pitta; and tranquil steady Kapha. Each of those types needs a different kind of behavior compensation in order to shift from their particular tendencies to become balanced and more in tune with nature.
So it is great that you are taking steps to make your life better. Just the freedom and increased self-respect that you can feel from accomplishing it will strengthen your resolve and motivate you to making your life better and more enjoyable.
Here's to a long and healthy life.

Good for you for deciding to stop! I've never smoked in my life, but usually with addictions to something the first few days are the hardest. In your case, it would be the nicotine from the cigarettes because the body goes through withdrawals. That's good that you've made it this far. Keep it up and you'll be alright! Just try to stay away from people who smoke!

well.. I think it's just like quitting computer games., I've been an addict for 2yrs+ ... I couldnt quit it until we went away for a vacation. away from technologies and the net. no comp gaming for a month. so i stopped.. but when i touched the keyboard ... BAM! back to the start,. but then it wasnt as frequent.. and now, I quit comp games, and into the net! muahah..
it's not that easy to quit unless youve got somethin better to do (there are lots, you've just gotta go out there and look for them! hehe)
It's like falling crazy in love for a person but that person doesnt care.. then someone better comes along who shows u the true meaning of love and life., and can love you the way you can love them.

for some its real hard but for my dad he said the hardest part is when you are around other smokers that's when the craving gets bad.Everyone is different though.I do hope however you can quit for good .My dad unfortunately did not quit early enough and died from cancer and I would hate for that to happen to you or anyone else.Good luck you can do it.I have faith in you.
