Can God hear us? I just read...?

I'm a little confused. I just read "John 9:31

Now we know that God heareth not sinners"

But, aren't we all sinners? Even Christians? So, are all our cries falling on deaf ears?

Jesus didn't say that. Neither did any of his apostles.

The blind man who was healed said it.

"We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will."

I think by listen, he meant that God does not do the BIDDING of sinners. If a sinner asks for something, God is not necessarily going to give it to him.

the Jews were calling Jesus a sinner, because they said he did not keep the Sabbath. after Jesus healed this blind man, they were confused. the man who was healed said, "You don't know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will. Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God, he could do nothing."

so in this context, "hearing" means answering prayer. This man claimed that God doesn't answer sinner's prayers for miracles and such, because this would give the Glory to the person and not to God. those who have accepted Christ's forgiveness receive the power of prayer and healing and such because they will give the glory to God.

and yes, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." however, Jesus became sin and willingly died as an atoning sacrifice. he took all our sins upon him and they were destroyed. i am no longer a sinner; now i am holy and righteous in His sight and i can approach the throne of God boldly.

Really helps if you post the WHOLE verse

John 9:31Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

You kind of left out the part that comes after "Now we know that God heareth not sinners, BUT......."

    Main Entry: but

    Part of Speech: conjunction, preposition

Synonyms: besides, except, however, just, mere, nevertheless, nonetheless, only, otherwise, save, still, unless, yet

No. i think of a god could understand my desire for important evidence. If a god is all understanding, he could understand many people have confidence issues out of whims and worry, wishful thinking or commercials and hype or superstition. i've got been an atheist for extremely almost 30 years. I easily have in no way heard a single element from a spiritual guy or woman who made me doubt my thirst for medical understanding and not accepting theologian's critiques. each and every now and then I hear to non secular radio communicate exhibits and watch preachers on television. So, in assessment to Christians, working example, who do not desire to hearken to what atheists say, and don't watch technological information classes or study technological information, i'm open to strategies. i haven't finished something which would be hilarious.

God knows what's in your heart, He can understand your moans. . It wasn't Jesus that said that but the Pharasees

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. 32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. 33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. 34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

  • "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:24)

John 9:31 says but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

1 John 3:6-9 Sin is natural to the children of the Devil, who has sinned from the beginning, but unnatural to the children of God, who cannot sin without the Sprit's conviction.

1 John 5:14, 15 Children of God may have confidence of free access and boldness of speech in presenting their requests to Him. There is, however, a limitation to the assurance of their requests will be answered.

Although this epistle is anonymous, its style and vocabulary clearly indicates that it was written by the author of the Gospel of John.

    The Pharisees were saying that....

    On the same note:

29-33. From age to age disbelieving persons fall back on the same shaky notions to justify themselves for rejecting light and truth. In modern times they say, in effect, 'We know that God spake unto Jesus, and unto Peter, James and John; but as for this Joseph Smith, we know not from whence he is.' To which one whose eyes have been opened spiritually might aptly reply: 'Why herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not whether Joseph Smith was sent of God, and yet he hath communed with God, received revelation upon revelation, translated the Book of Mormon, performed many miracles, set up again the kingdom of God on earth, and organized a Church which is fast becoming a world power and to which hundreds of thousands of the elect are gathering from all parts of the earth. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any be a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Since the world began was it not heard that any man could do the mighty works performed in this dispensation unless God was with him. If Joseph Smith were not of God, his fraudulent claims would have been uncovered long ago and his work come to naught.'

A very good and honest question.

We are all the sinners in the sense that none of us deserves the unconditional grace of God.

When we accept grace, which transpires as an act of God's volition, and has nothing to do with us at all; and happens at the time we are still sinners (Romans 5:8); we are no longer considered sinners. THIS is the sheer brilliance of the love of God- he washes it all away.

So John 9:31 refers to those who are unrepentant, and even rejecting of God's grace. It refers to those who remain lost in sin.

This is actually a great question. I will try and explain it the best that I can. The first prayer that God hears from us, is a prayer of confession, repentance and asking Christ to save us. After that, yes, we are still sinners but we are saved, and God sees us through the eyes of His Son and what He accomplished for us. God hears all our prayers, however, as a believer, we can continue to sin- and if we are sinner habitually with no repentance, He will not hear our prayers until we pray for repentance- which means to turn from our sin, back to God.
