Unborn Baby Question?

My wife and I are lucky enough to find ourselves pregnant. However, I am concerned about something:

My wife loves the marmite, shes eating it at least once a day, if not twice. What effect is this going to have on our unborn child? I am concerned that he will have some kind of eating disorder, maybe vegetarianism?

Please can someone put my mind at rest, I dont want to have to physically remove the marmite from my wifes hands while shes in such a delicate state.

Cheers all

LOL. Congratulations, Daddy! What an exciting time for you. Sounds like you have a marmite craving wife on your hands! There is absolutely nothing you can do to pry the marmite from her-not that you'd want to anyway. At least while eating marmite, she is not in the throws of a hormone related tantrum! Marmite is harmless. And vegetarianism is not specifically considered an 'eating disorder" although many meat eaters will disagree!

My husband suffered through my NEED for sub sandwiches on a daily basis. He cannot remember any of the unpleasant hormonal fights or strange pregnancy related behaviors of my first pregnancy. All he can remember is the wretched phone call call each day, "honey, can you please being pick up a sub sandwich?? Poor guy doesn't eat them anymore to this day...

With any luck, your wife will never look at marmite the same way again after she gives birth.

    Congrats and good luck!

I wouldn't worry yourself too much. There are certain things your wife should avoid eating while pregnant but marmite is ok.It may be that she goes off it completely when the morning sickness creeps in(which can happen at any time during the day by the way)relax enjoy the pregnancy and congratulations.

Lol, I wouldn't worry I cant see marmite being harmful, its full of vitamins and folic acid which is recommended in early pregnancy anyway.

I ate marmite every day and it certainly did my baby no harm, he's now 2 and a half and loves marmite himself!!

its fine there is nothing in marmite that can harm her or baby, you must let a pregnant woman follow her cravings because in every craving she has the baby is craving for something in that food, let your wife be and keep her happy and buy the biggest jar of marmite you can find

marmite is full of goodness during pregnancy.

    rich in folic acid.

it will be doing your baby good :)

    not bad.

i was told to eat it, but i've gone off it during pregnancy so i just took the supplement folic acid.

    congratulations anyways :)

babys are very good at getting the nutrients they need from the mothers body, as long as your wife is eating other food aswell the baby will be just fine

  • the baby will either love it or hate it

Poke it out of her hands with a very long stick. Then run.
