I have a kitten that about 6 months or so and I am finding him losing his teeth, is that normal? ?

my husband tells me that he had several kittens and cats while he grew up in his country, and this never happened to them. I could really use some information, so far, after this morning it makes 6 teeth that my kitten has lost in the past 1 1/2 month. I am concerned and seeking information from others that are more familiar with cats, i was raised around dogs and know that they do lose their teeth and they regrow back. i read some books and so far they say that cats don't regenerate their blood cells in order to regrow back things they lose after the age of 2 years old.

    Yep! :)

Think about it: itty bitty milkfangs wouldn't do a 20 ppound cat much good hunting in the wild. :)

    good job on noticing! :)

Kittens go through teeth replacement just as children due on the way to becoming an adult. Most of the time, they swallow the tooth, so you never see it. And they don't go through teething pain as children and babies do. Around six months or so, your kitten is getting his permanent teeth.

But as my vet told me, when teeth are lost, it is usually a clue they are ready for being spayed or neutered, or you will have a whole set of new problems to deal with.

My kitten is nor 6 months old, and he is teething and losing his baby teeth. I figure that your kitten is going through the same thing, and all of my cats raised from kittens lost their baby teeth at 6 months.

Its normal, your husband probably hadn't noticed. They often swallow their baby teeth.

All cats and kittens will lose their baby teeth and like people it can take some longer than others. Usually you never see them or notice the loss.

I saw my kitten lose 1 tooth when she was 6 months and I called the vet and they said it was normal. There was alittle bleeding but then it went away. It sounds pretty normal to me but 6 teeth sounds like a lot. Try calling your local vet and asking there opinion.

this is normal, your kitty is just losing his baby teeth and getting his adult teeth now. sometimes you dont notice the teeth falling out because they can fall out anywhere and most of the time it happens when they are eating so tooth ends up in the food which gets eaten, this is probably what happened to your husbands cats which is why he didnt notice. :)

1 or two teeth is normal, but 6 is quite a few to lose in such a short time. you should call a vet and see what they think.

All kittens and puppies lose baby teeth and get adult teeth.
