Does Anyone Else Admire McCain For Standing Up To His Supporters?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EDx07JQud8

I'm not a huge fan, but I have to give him props for standing up to his own supporters and admitting Barack Obama is not necessarily the root of all evil, and he was willing to reprimand his supporters when one refered to Obama as an "Arab". Not a huge fan, but I must admit he has class. Agree?

Yes! I agree. McCain must show diplomacy and integrity. If he hadn't stopped the hecklers I would be deeply disappointed.

If McCain wins this election he will need to govern the whole country and almost half will be disappointed. He must smooth his way with everyone.

Most people feel Obama will win but if he doesn't then McCain must be prepared for a huge backlash and much disappointment as well as war and a faltering economy.

The best he can do is show extreme diplomacy and kindness as he will need Democratic support for the challenging job ahead.

Mr. Obama has been showing utmost respect to all since the beginning without one single slip or questionable gesture.

No. I disagree. McCain was pressured by members of the GOP to speak up. This was not his own doing. If it were, then why didn't he speak up a few days ago when someone shouted that Obama was a "terrorist?" Lately, the McCain and Palin rallies have been full of anger. Neither one took the opportunity to speak up until the GOP showed their concern over the situation. I am happy he is speaking up now, but it is too little too late. He should have done it from the get go.

would you also give props to someone who set fire to your house and then tried putting the fire out before it was burned to the ground?

he does not deserve to get props for what he did, he does not deserve credit for it and he certainly doesn't deserve to have people say he has class for it. the truth is most of the rhetoric and ignorance we've heard shouted out at his rallies lately is due to him and palin perpetuating misconceptions about him. labeling him as dangerous and a terrorist. insinuating that he is "different from us". yeah, he is different than they are. he wants to talk about the issues and how to fix them and all they want to do is get people to vote for them by trying to scare the american people.

in 2000 i respected mccain and actually would have voted for him. but all he's shown me in the last several months is that the republican party has done what he says the viet-cong and being a pow did not do. break him.

He definitely showed character. I'm not a supporter of his, but found it refreshing to see honesty from either camp. What did bother me was the reaction of his supporters -- they booed him. Then again I've been to Bethlehem PA -- nuff said on that.

Trust me, that wasn't his idea. His Advisers told him he better do some damage control because his poll numbers were tanking because of his and Palin's hate rallies.
