Getting remembered 1000 years later?
I was thinking about how difficult it is to be remembered by the majority of the world 1000 years later.
So I wondering if you could speculate on why Jesus is still a household name for something like more than 80% of the human population. I'm an atheist but this confused me. What exactly did he do to make such a huge and lasting impression on humanity?
And I know about the water to wine thing, but "apparently" saints do miracles every day and no one's heard of them.

Look up European history.
The RCC used religion as a vehicle to control the masses. No bashing intended, just stating fact.
The fact that when rulers converted, their subjects converted spread the religion farther than it may have gotten on it's own, and it just stayed that way until near-modern times.
When settlers came to America, they brought it with them.
So, mostly politics and habit.

I know you won't like me saying this; but the fact that Jesus is remembered and has such a MAJOR place in many societies to this day only further goes to prove the existence of God and the fact the He sent Jesus. God wouldn't let Jesus be forgotten. God knew that the Roman Empire was the most influential nation in the time following Jesus' time; and He used that nation as a vehicle to spread the Word, first through Peter and the other apostles and eventually through influencing and turning Constantine (and yes, Constantine still had free will to chose to follow or not). Once Christianity was the religion on the Roman Empire it of course spread through Europe and stayed a major religion after the Empire fell. Then it spread from there to the Americas and elsewhere. So what it says at the end of the Book of Mathew when Jesus tells his followers to go and make disciples of all nations is truly happening.
It was all God's plan from the beginning.

Unfortunately, $1000 isnt enough to make you wealthy. Let's say you invest it in DIA, which simulates the Dow Jones Industrials Average. It might only double every ten years. That means your $1000 would only be $32,000 when you're 70 years old. Go ahead and invest, but try to invest a lot more once you're out of college and have a better job.

If not for a man named Constantine, Jesus would have gone the way of every other Messiah of his time. Constantine just decided that he needed a divine patron who could compete with the Gods that the other contenders for the Roman throne followed, chose Jesus, and thanks to that choice, Jesus (as defined and interpreted by the Roman Empire) became the dominant God of Europe.

The media, and word of mouth. I think it's safe to say that people were much more gullible and ignorant 1000 years ago...thumbs down all you want but hey, in the middle ages people burned witches for the failure of crops...that worked didn't it (sarcasm)

For your answer, you only need to look as far as the modern media and advertising.
People will generally grab a hold to some extent to the things that they are exposed to, including the works collected by Constantine and his elected few. A bound ideology composed of numerous accounts tends to lend itself to credibility even if it is cover-to-cover hearsay, as the bible is.

simple...Cause he was sent by god...God had chose only the purest
men among all the humans to be his messengers (prophets) to the mankind to teach them gods message(humans you have one powerful god he is the king the owner the creator who created you and all the creatures and the whole universe so prove to him that you love him for himself ..
not because his powerful capability ..that's why he don't show himself and no one can hear him .. and that's why he put the humans on earth ( place of burdens ,sickness ,sorrow ,griefs , sadness , pain) ..witch is imperfect unfair place... watching who will believe in him in spite of all the life's harshness and hardness.. and not seeing god just feeling him in the heart and believing in his words on the tongue of his messengers and never mind who speak, accuse god in bad names ..or.. who suspect in his existence .. let them.. god will keep silence wont respond to their insulting he can easily show himself and his powerful to every one to prove to them his existence..and shut them up
but he wont cause he is testing the humans ...so whats the point from the test if he gave them the answer ..cause of course they will all pass and succeed the test ..he wants them to figure out the answer...by themselves...he will only show himself on the promised day ..when no regret will be useful ..it will be the end no back of ...and those who believed in him and bore the people mocking of them will be rewarded
and will be given them the eternal life.

Amongst his many other contributions, Jesus left for the future generations the Bible, which is a source of knowledge of the divine and salvation of the mind for millions of people around the world even today, so many centuries later............
