Birthday party ideas for 1st birthday in December...?

This december is my daughters 1st birthday. We want to have all the family and our friends and their kids there. however our house is not big enough to accommodate a large number of people. Since it is in december and we can't have it outside we were looking for an indoor spot to host her party. I've looked at chuck e cheese but was wondering if there was something else out there.

please any suggestions are welcomed!

Update:

We live in Michigan...

I was looking around and there is a rec center near us that has a pool and party room. So maybe that might be what we do.

And I agree about chuck e cheese. that's why i need other ideas

Try calling your local fire halls or communitity centers for their rates.

I had my oldest's first birthday at our local community center and it cost me $80 for 4 hours.

Another idea is to have it at McDonald's or Burger King (the ones that have a play place). I think it's between $5-$10 per child.

Or maybe a family member has a big enough house they'll let you have it at??

ETA: My oldest is s December baby & my youngest is a November baby. I'm having their birthday party together the first Saturday in December. I'm probably going to rent out our local community center.

I'm in the SAME boat as you. My daughter will be one in the beginning of January and we have a ranch style home..one floor not big at all. Her father and I both have large familes and I really don't know what to do. It stinks cause when you rent out a place like chuckie cheese the baby could care less and you spend tons of money. I'v thought about renting a room in a legion but I wouldn't know how to keep all the young kids entertained. I may do Mcdonalds because even though thats a rip off it's still a bit cheaper and are local one has a play center for the kids.

We used to have a DZ discovery zone play center but it's been gone..do you have one near you?

You may want to try a bowling alley to. Although I'm sure the baby can't bowl it's something for the older kids and they have big rooms you can use for pizza and stuff

It would help if you said where about you live.. but, did you ask if you could do it at another family members house? Are their any restaurants that have banquet rooms that they rent out for free? At this age, they cant really do to much anyways,,and will be more excited about the people than where they go. Chuck e cheese would still be to big i think for her. Pick some place all the adults would enjoy, but if there are older kids in the family consider that too. Think of it more as a party for the adults to celebrate her b-day.

Understand your problem... I have a December baby too and never have room for her birthday parties. You can rent a VFW hall (try Fridays or Sundays as they cost less than renting on Saturdays) or if you belong to a church, see if you can use their common room. If you will have older kids there then Chuck E Cheese is great but young kids might get scared of the characters.

I always think it is fun when our whole family gets together for something to do together. That way you don't have to worry about entertaining everyone. Maybe a local bowling alley, ice skating rink, indoor hotel with a pool, etc. Think along the lines of the group and not the 1 yr old... she wont' be able to do anything anyways but she will definitely know that everyone is enjoying themselves!

My daughter's first birthday was at my parent's house. Our apartment was too small to have a party there. Perhaps you have a relative or family friend that has a home large enough and can ask them to help you. Or maybe you know someone who has access to a rent-able facility, such as a community hall.

let me first say, chuckie cheese is HORRIBLE!!! that's from experience. and from having a 15mo old myself there's no much for a 1 year old to do there.. I'm not sure where you live but in my area it's now like a arcade.. there are bigger kids running everywhere and my poor son almost got trampled on numerous times.. i had to stay very close to him. again, i'm not sure where your at but i know around here, Philly, there are alot of places that are just one room filled with things for toddlers to play with, crawl thru, and climb up along with tables and party packages... dont go crazy. they're only 1, they're not gonna remember it.. save it for 2 and above. i just had something small with family, cake and gifts.. good luck.
