  • i don't see any way hopkins can beat pavlik.he is just to old.pavlik is great at working the jab and can knockout anyone.

Round 1 pavlik will come out aggressively working the jab and throw the hard right a few times and hopkins will show pavlik why he has never been knocked out by useing his great defense

Round 2-5 pavlik will settle down and start working his long jab.hopkins will try to bob and weave his way toward pavlik and get in one or two shots at pavlik.

Round 6 This round will be the longest round for hopkins.by this point the same thing that happened in the calzaghe fight will happen again.HE WILL START TIRING OUT.pavlik will work the jab alot more easily and will land the hard right 3 or 4 times and with 1 min 12 seconds left in the round pavlik will overwhelm hopkins and hopkins will go down.he will get up and barely survive the round.

Round 7 pavlik will come out swinging and corner hopkins the same way he did miranda and taylor and at then the ref will stop the fight

Kelly Pavlik is younger and stronger but this is going to be a close fight. Last time out Bernard Hopkins close lost to Calghaze is because of the latter speed and old Bernard just half a step slower nowaday. Bernard don't have to look for Kelly. Kelly is a strong, relentless fighter but he is predictable. Bernard Hopkins key to victory is defense. If he can make Kelly miss and counter often, he can win a decision. Kelly Pavlik key to victory is body punch, take away those old legs and the head will fall. It is smart to bet on Kelly but I will take a risk and bet on B-Hop by close decision.

Actually, all Kelly Pavlik needs to do is keep distance between himself and Hopkins. Pavlik should just work his jab as usual and potential set up for his right. Hopkins will likely look to fight close and get inside for any clinching opportunity he can get. Hopkins likes to lower his head as he moves in, so Pavlik should prepared to throw uppercuts, as Hopkins charges in.

I think this will be an easier fight than what most my expect for Pavlik.

    Thanks for asking this Q.

Pavlik needs to keep it simple and take advantage of Hopkin's age. Boxing can be a chess match, but it can also be as simple as "throwing more and landing more and you win." They key to victory is for Pavlik to keep moving his hands, but budget his energy to go a full 12 rounds. Work the body early on to speed up Hopkin's late round fading. If the KO comes, then blast him, otherwise, wear Hop down and take a decision.

Hop has to gimmick his way to victory. He'll have to play head games, use dirty tactics to the point just before losing a point. He's going to have to be judicious in his output and keep his defense tight in a way that the judges know that Pavlik's shots are missing or hitting gloves. Flurry at the end of rounds to steal 7 of them and try to get a decision win. The margin for error is slim for Hopkins. If Pavlik is over aggressive, I think Hop could employ a modified rope-a-dope to let Kelly empty his gas tank and have little to show for it.

Let me give you the "x" factor. I don't recall the name of Pavlik's cornerman, but if it's the same guy as it has been, well, he's a piece of crap. If Pavlik needs tactical advice, he's not going to get it from his overblown cheerleader of a corner man. I'll do the job for half the price. I can say "try harder" and "punch more" just as good. If this fight's outcome depends on adjusting tactics and adaptability, this is could a bad night for Pavlik.

Like the people said, pavlik keeps distance with his jab to set up the right.

For hopkins, he needs to stay inside, maybe try to catch pavlik with a sneaky right hand when pavlik throws his jab.

it will be an even fight in the first half but pavlik should be able to take over the second half when hopkins starts to fatigue.

what hopkins needs to do is stay inside so he wont get hit wiith pavliks power.

and pavlik nees to keep it outside so he can jab hopkins and give him that big powerful right

pavlik is going to win probably by ko or tko, he is younger, faster, stronger and very talented, Hopkins has experience on his side but not much else, he would need to hang tough and try to get a decision but i don t think he will be able to avoid all of pavlik's hay makers. Pavlik has almost all the advantages here, all he needs to do is avoid getting caught in hopkins's dirty tactics and keep the pressure...he should be fine if he sticks to that, and he should avoid trying to fight hopkins on the inside and just stick to jabs and crosses.

Hopkins will try to slip Pavlik's jabs and straight rights, counter with straight rights of his own, try to do work inside, then tie Kelly up and wait for the ref to separate them. This strategy will work early, but Hopkins age will catch up to him and he will not be able sustain a prolonged attack for 12 rounds and Kelly will easily outpoint him for a unanimous decision. No I do not think Hopkins will get KO'ed, he is much too intelligent to exchange with a younger champion. But I have been wrong before.

I am going with Pavlik by a close and ugly decision victory. Hopkins will make it an ugly fight.

    Pavlik:

    -jab, jab, jab

-keep distance between himself and Bernard

    -stay aggressive

    Hopkins:

    -tie up with Pavlik

-slow down the pace doing whatever you need to do

-don't get hit with that right hand
