Is 17 months too early to introduce the potty?

My daughter is 17 months old and has somewhat should a interest in using the potty.

One day she was pulling at her diaper on one side and was trying to get up to the toilet seat and saying "pee pee".

Is it too early to introduce her to the potty?

my daughter is 17 and i bought her a potty a while ago, but recently she has been showing more of an interest in it. i keep it out so that she sees it constantly and i tell her "go pee pee on the potty" and she will run over to it and sit. so i don't think its too soon once she gets started don't hold your expectations to be too high be patient and allow her to go on her own terms with a little reinforcement

    "it's never too early"....?

Sometimes it IS too early. It's not a discipline thing. It's about the child's physical development. At a very young age, they just are not able to control it yet. So many parents push it so young b/c "everybody else is" only to then have the child have so many accidents which is both embarrassing to you and your child. Of course you shouldn;t have a 5 year old running around in a diaper, lol, but you also should NOT force it too soon just because Miss Neighbor says her little TImmy started potty training at 1. She's lying. If he did, then I'm betting he had a ton of accidents.

No I think that it wonderful to get children used to the potty early just as long as its not forced on them. I think she probably will potty train fairly soon as it sounds like she is getting ready.

No. She's probably ready to be introduced. Just don't push or it could back fire. You may be "introducing" the potty to her for several months before she has any progress. Just make it available. Show her how to use it and don't push her at this point.

heck no. :) if you can potty train at 17 months be happy. i took my son to the doctor and there was two 16 month old boys that were potty trained. i hope mine is that easy.
