Cruise question, I am going on a cruise on Carnival to Cozumel. Any suggestions, sites to see ? ?

Just seeking advice and 'in the know' things from people who have been there. Best bargains ? Is it safe to go "beyond" the touristy marketplace to shop ?

Just got back from a cruise that made a stop in Cozumel. It's such a small island that you're better off renting a car right outside the port (for like $40) and take your wife/buddies and make stops at multiple beaches and sites. We drove in the downtown area looking for some stores and its really hard to get lost, especially when there is one main road and a map at hand. The best beach I found was about 5 miles south from the port, it's where Carlos & Charlies is at; nice calm water and plenty of shade and activities. Good luck.

We rented a "driver" and van when we got off the ship, to take us around the island. Made stops whenever we saw something that looked good including "Paradise Beach" which was a great stop and could have been enough fun for the entire stop. It was a beautiful island and that was a great way to see all of it. Next time I would probably just take a cab to Paradise and spend the afternoon there, eating, drinking and relaxing at the beach.

I have never been past the "touristy marketplace", but if you do go beyond, watch out for prices. Remember, it is not America and you can barter with people. My mom got this marble fat guy from like $15 down to like $7. So, I guess it is good to go beyond the norm, but watch out for prices and actually people. When I went there this drunk guy asked my dad for like a camel or something.

go to shoretrips.com they do shore excursions i would recommend the private island tour it will be a small group, the people you are traveling with, me and my husband went and it was me him and the tour guide she took us wherever we wanted to go and told us everything about the island. i would do the dolphin swim at chankanaab park also its a great experience and we also saw the ruins. but shore trips always does small groups and is cheaper than booking with carnival who puts 30+ in a group
