Help with Ipod....................?

I want to get a new ipod. I have all my itune stuff registered to my old ipod. How do I make sure all the songs I purchased on my old Ipod go onto the new Ipod?

Also it seems that I can only use my ipod on a maximum of 5 computers, how do I go beyond that? Meaning, I have 5 computers at home & work, I have to reformat one of them. Will that make this a 6th computer according to Itunes and make me unable to put my Ipod stuff on it?

Thanks

You're not restricted to one iPod. If you have an old iPod you can set up the same options for a new one, automatic syncing or manual control. You can choose these options when you first plug the new iPod into your main computer.

You can use your iPod on as many computers as you want...It's the Library that you're limited on. The purchases (non-plus) you make can only be played on registered computers. Anything you add to the library from your CDs can be played on as many computers as you want. So if you only add things from your personal CD collection you can use as many computers as you want.

Anything you buy has to be authorized. iTunes Plus downloads, I believe, don't have this issue.

You're only allowed to have 5 computers at a time authorized. This eliminates the issue of friends sharing music and stuff. If you want to register another computer you'll need to deactivate one of the old ones. Either way, do you really need 5 computers authorized? Wouldn't one at work and one at home be enough? But that's just my opinion. Hope this helps.

For your first question, just make sure you have transferred all your purchased songs into your iTunes library. To do this, connect your old iPod, then go to File > Transfer Purchases from iPod . Then you can sync to your new one.

For your next question, no, you cannot go beyond the 5 computers, unless you change the format of the song (e.g. into .mp3). Otherwise, you will have to de-authorize one of your used computers. I'm not sure whether your computer is still authorized; you can try to de-authorize it anyway, and if you can't, I can't help you there.

N.B. You can change the format by burning onto a CD then ripping it back again.
