Why are people so interested in being famous?

It seems that people, maybe it's simply this website, are interested in simply being famous. They don't want to be good at something or make a difference in society or help others or learn how to spell or use proper grammer....I just don't get it. Why is fame such a big deal? Are we purpetuating this fame ideal with reality TV? Are we training younger generations to be apethetic to the real truth out there in that the US is entering into a recession, the likes of we may have not seen for several generations, and our society can't necessarily support a growing number of completely useless people simply wandering around being famous for the sake of fame? I ask simply b/c I come on this site and get into the Theatre sub-category looking for theatre questions...and all I see are people trying to get famous...so what's the big deal.....

To be noticed, to be admired, to be loved, to be adored, to be looked at, to avoid loneliness.

The person who wants to be famous is afraid to stand alone because they depend on people’s flattery and good opinion.

The ego says I must be somebody

The mind say's that I am

The heart say's that I am less

The spirit says that I am nothing!

What happens when you are ambitious?

You are thinking about yourself, are you not?

Where the self is, love is not.

The greater the outward show, the greater the inward poverty.

Without first knowing yourself, how can you know what is true? Illusion is inevitable without self-knowledge.

The myth, the ideal, is unreal, it is a self-projected escape, it has no actuality. The actual is what you are. What you are is much more important than what you should be.

You can understand what is, but you cannot understand what should be.

You do not want to see or know what is happening within yourself. You disregard the inner and hope to build the outer, yet the inner is always overcoming the outer. The outer cannot last without the fullness of the inner, but the fullness of the inner is not the repetitious sensation of organized religion nor the accumulation of facts called knowledge.

You must know yourself as you are, not as you wish to be which is merely an ideal and therefore fictitious, unreal, it is only that which is that can be transformed, not that which you wish to be.

If you don’t compare yourself with another, you will be what you are.

Because the lame stream liberal media infects these sheep kids with the idea that money equal success. Of course money makes life easier but it does not define success. Watch the tv, it is all about money, power and sex - everything that someone who is a '' famous person '' is associated with. They do not see the negative side, drugs, depression & mismanagement of money = where are they now?

What ever happened to wanting to be a DR. or lawyer and have a nice family? People are just too into themselves today.

Well, i would look at it the positive way. Hard work comes with recognition and naturally fame. So if you work hard, you will naturally be recognized and eventually become famous, and when you become famous, you loose out a little bite trying to please every body, and that is the negative bite of it.

Back to the question, i would think, because of the respect and view given to those who are famous. In most cases, these famous people are role models to the young ones who can not differentiate the difference.

i think margaret Thatcher was famous for her charity work as well.

Yes i agree with you that we need to lead the young by example for them to figure out on what is truly right.

    Thanks for sharing dear.

because all people tend to see is the glamour, money, popularity etc fame brings!

because thats what all the magazines and tv's portray!

they'd never dare to portray the bad points about fame, cos their magazines and such wouldnt sell!

What's my initial response? That's the 1st question.

Actually you're right. To hell with them.

Be yourself and be true to you.

To hell with these self-serving retards. They don't care about you.

Live your life and be free.

I'll see you in a better place...
