What is the most severe book of the Bible?
I'm having to associate a character with a book, in part for research for character development, and I have choosen the Bible. She is a 25 year old single, psychiatry nurse in the 1940s. She is very religious and I'm trying to come up with a book that would be her "favorite". And/or something she would read to bring her comfort or to draw her away from sin. She is severe, meticulously clean, and people are weary/afraid of her. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agosoap opera's in the 1970's?
I am doing some research on soap opera's in the 1970's and was wondering if anyone had any reliable resources. Not for just one show but all of the shows (soaps) during that decade as well as some info on the evolution from the radio dramas to the 70's as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
3 AnswersSoap Operas1 decade agohow to approach taxes and the actor?
i've been performing as an actor professionally since '99 and accordingly, i have been filing taxes that way, as an independant contractor for the most part. i moved to chicago and subsequently have picked up a full time job in order to support my theatre. the question is, how do i approach my taxes this year? i feel like i can't do the same thing i've always done. my primary source of income is no longer theatre but i'm still performing and still paying for supplies as if i were (make-up, headshots, costumes, scripts, ect...) can i still write these things off? do i approach my taxes as having two jobs? some of the jobs i have picked up (theatrically) are paying but some of them were not? should i just suck it up and seek professional help? any advice (professional) or suggestions (non professional) would be helpful. thanks

5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoWhy are people so interested in being famous?
It seems that people, maybe it's simply this website, are interested in simply being famous. They don't want to be good at something or make a difference in society or help others or learn how to spell or use proper grammer....I just don't get it. Why is fame such a big deal? Are we purpetuating this fame ideal with reality TV? Are we training younger generations to be apethetic to the real truth out there in that the US is entering into a recession, the likes of we may have not seen for several generations, and our society can't necessarily support a growing number of completely useless people simply wandering around being famous for the sake of fame? I ask simply b/c I come on this site and get into the Theatre sub-category looking for theatre questions...and all I see are people trying to get famous...so what's the big deal.....

9 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoWhat do I do with the Bride's bouquet of white roses?
i recently went to a friend of mine's wedding and because she it just simply didn't matter to her OR she got caught up in the chaos of organizing her wedding, she did not have a second bouquet...you know, the one you throw. i'm not even sure if this is a standard practice. all the weddings i've been to the bride has, what i like to call a "stunt bouquet" that is thrown to the single ladies so that she can keep her real bouquet. anyway, i caught her gorgeous, white rose wedding bouquet. but i don't really have a need for it. so i was thinking of doing something nice with the bouquet and giving it back to her as a gift and i was thinking about drying the flowers. is there any particular way i need to dry roses? does anyone have any experience with drying wedding bouquets and have neat suggestions? any other suggestions regarding another idea on what i can do? any and all ideas are welcome! thanks!
2 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoIs anyone else willing to circumvent the Heath Ledge band wagon with me?
Okay, so i finally saw the movie...and it was good. it was more than good, mainly cause i saw it in IMAX and am surprised my face didn't melt off. it is probably one of those movies that will not only define a generation (21st cent star wars!) but become known for its remarkability. that being said, i can't jump on the ledger bandwagon. i kinda refused to prior to watching them movie, mainly because people were freakish about this movie, but my sensibilities as an actor where called to question.....I LOVE HEATH!!! i've always respected his talent and his choices. as an actor, he's made bold choices in his scripts and the path he choose to tell the story and the voice with which he told it. so when the hype over the movie started coming, i made myself take it in stride. but when folks started whispering about oscar...i grimaced...why? does he really deserve it? was the performance that compelling. was it anymore compelling than any other movie he's done? and if that's an affirmative, is it good enough to stand up to other nominations? is it a slap to his career that he gets the most success and critical aclaim for his portrayal of this character? or is it scarey that he's still acclaimed yet he died from an overdose? all these questions, pulling me different directions, popped up and i've kinda been a wreck. mainly because you can't say a negetive thing about the movie or heath at this point...you'll get lambasted, which may, regretably, play a part in the position of my opinion today. SO...now that i've seen it, i must say, that while heath did a fabulous job, solid choices, made a character that will live on in people's nightmares, he just did not live up to the hype. AND PLEASE DON'T HATE ME, this is after all an opinion and it's not that i'm debating his talents...they are far and wide. but there are actors out there who have done just a good of job, if not better, AND managed to survive, and YET STILL have not garnered the acclaim he has...and it sorta bothers me. not too much...i won't let it. i liked the guy too much. i remember his stand out performance in, god forbid i ever admit this publically, but "10 things i hate about you". he was good. he stood out to me as realistic and i've watched his career come of age, quietly and almost seductively...like the man himself. he was sooooo hot in a knight's tale and i drugged myself against the cheesey factor just to watch it all the way thru. i think i just want to hear people talk out their infatuation with this actor and see where it stems and why. i feel like the batman fever is effecting...which is still pretty groovey but to what extent should we allow ourselves to get caught up....i'm interested in people's opinions...dont' be too mean...

8 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoi need advice on finding a dentist?
so the last time i went to a dentist was awhile ago...i'm not putting specific details becaue it's been THAT long but the last time was on my parents insurance. once out of college, and out of insurance, i simply didn't concern myself with it. well, being older and finally firmly insconsed in some pretty good insurance, i'm in desperate need of a dentist but i'm not sure how to go about it. i don't want to pick a random name out of the phone book. i feel like i should go to someplace that is well recommeded, but can i simply just go in (with an appointment of course)...i'm just unsure and i need someone who's been in this situation or a similar situation to lend some guidance. thanks so much!

14 AnswersPoetry1 decade agophantom urine smell!!!! someone help!!!!!?
okay...so i moved to chicago in november and i was really excited for summer finally getting here until the "smell" arrived. at first it was very minimal and didn't pay attention to it, but last thursday it smelled like a mens' bathroom. i'm talking about the smell of residual urine...somewhere. i initially just chalked it up to the heat and skipping a week on the bathroom detail (i clean it every two weeks!). but then when i attempted to track the source down with my nose, i came up empty. i could smell it but when i tried to hone in on it, it would dissipate...weird. so, this past weekend i cleaned it...the whole bathroom: shower, shower curtain, toliet, sink, floor....everything, but the scent was still there. so i bought some CRL, the super cleaner, and made the decision that i was going to win this. did another round of cleaning and in doing this discovered that my toliet, as it meets the tiled bathroom floor, isn't caulked and there was funk built up there.
4 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoIs this photo REAL??? what do you think?
so i was sent this email about a story and it had this photo in it and i'm trying to figure out if it's real or not. i'm terribly happy to hear peoples' opinion, because usually they're very entertaining, but i am looking for someone with legitimate knowledge to tell me. i am looking for someone to tell me "yea" or "nay" and PROOF to document their opinion. otherwise stare in wonder, my friends. because it is possible.
here's the photo:

and of course, i've been asking everyone and i've encountered a disbeliever at work, cause i think it could be real, and we're in a friendly debate over it and he emailed me this picture to prove that mine was a fake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Great_white_sha...
but i told him not only do sharks have to keep moving in order to physically push water through their lungs, which would make it bigger, but it could be a female, which are bigger
9 AnswersZoology1 decade agoGrowing multiple plants in one pot?
So I'm a newbie plant person and I got this plant that is slowly dying but I kinda figured this would happen so I'm not all that sad, but I now have this pretty big pot I bought for it and I want to make use of it. I was thinking of putting several different but smaller plants into the one big pot. To make matters even more difficult, I live in an apartment with no balcony and I don't really get much direct light...plenty of indirect light because I have a whole wall of windows. SO...1) is this a good idea to start with 2) any suggestions on plants to try....
I like the idea of an herb garden but I'm afraid it wouldn't be that successful because I couldn't get the direct sun those plants require, and I don't really want to purchase a sun lamp. Any suggestions would be great...thanks so much!!!
