Who is Joe the Plumber?

I had never heard of this guy until last night's debate.

How do Mccain and Obama know him?

Out of all the people in America, why did they choose to be so concerned about Joe and what he is thinking about?

We all have problems in our lives...what is about Joe that makes him special enough to have his specific issues addressed by both candidates at the debate last night?

he is a guy that Obama talked to at some point about taxes and McCain has decided to use him in addition to the military to try to get more votes. He came out today and said that he currently wouldn't be affected by the above 250,000 tax increase and will not say who he is voting for...

My opinion of plumbers is this though, they make their profits generally off the hardships of others, and they charge a lot because they can so I'm not going to pity him if he has to pay higher taxes. How excited are you when you have to call a plumber - the first thing I think is how am I going to pay for this...

Joe is a relative of Charles Keating, busted for tax evasion and wife beating, son of a man who contributes heavily to the Repub party who approached Obama and twisted his words around.

    See: http://theobfuscationreport.blogspot.com/2008/10/j...

He would get a tax cut under Obama's plan (if he paid taxes) and if he opened a business making $278K/ye , he would have to pay an additional $600 in taxes.

He claims that his would prevent him from opening up that lucrative plumbing business.

He has been used a symbol of the average American, which given his background is highly offensive to many.

Chances are, he is a Republican plant.

Sounds like Joe the Plumber is making more than $250K. I'm telling you, plumbers charge an arm and a leg. No wonder McCain is pandering to him. The Republicans want to give tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, while raising taxes on the poorest and the middle class. Good thing Obama's going to win this one.

Methinks they were just using Joe the Plumber as a metaphor for the Average Joe, the average American. But the way McCain used it, it sounds like he is some rich neurosurgeon.

He has a number of residences in Ohio. He does not appear to have a plumber's license in the state. There is a tax lien on him in one county for unpaid income tax. He is registered as a Republican in a different county from the one where he gave his primary address, under the name of "Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher" and has voted in one primary. However, the clerk says there was a spelling error in his name, so perhaps his registration has been purged.

Also, he's a relative by marriage of Charles Keating.

He's someone who, while talking with Obama, asked about why his taxes would be increased. Obama replied with the now infamous quote of "spreading the wealth around."

What you should note is that if this plumber is going to be taxed, he would have to NOT be a small business (Obama would exempt small businesses), he would need to make a profit of over a quarter million dollars, and as a side note, he's not a certified plumber.

Joe is McCain supporter. Now, he's shocked that he has drew so much attention. Yeah right. Good play McCain camp. He was planted by the McCain camp to confront Obama. Joe is an active member of the Skin Heads, they are very prevalent in Ohio.

Joe the Plumber is one of the most important swing voters of this election.Obama and McCain spend a lot of their time trying to get Joe to get to vote for one of them.He will be important in this election.

He is a small business owner who dreams to make a quarter million one day and thinks he shouldn't pay the additional 3 % taxes.

He can only stay in business by paying minimum wages....

He wants to make a lot of money and live good at the expense of low wage earners who should pay a lot of taxes too....

Actually, I don't know how he pays his employees, I am sure they don't have health insurance...

Most businesses that earn that kind of money have CPAs who make sure every tax loophole is being used, lowering taxes far below the going rate.
