Will Obama do this too?
Bill Clinton ran on a promise of middle class tax cuts. Shortly after the inauguration he announced that things were even worse (budget wise) than he imagined and he'd be unable to keep his tax cut promise.
With the support of the Democratic congress he went on to pass tax increases, including on the middle tax. This paved the way for Republicans to take control of the House in 1994.
The Federal budget is in much worse shape now than it was in 1992. Will Obama renege on his tax cut promise too?

There is a very strong possibility that history will repeat itself. Why are the "Indian Givers" always promising something that they know they will never deliver on. It sort of reminds me of a carrot on a stick. That's how you lead a donkey is it not?

Yes, he will recommend to Congress that taxes be increased. The poor pay no taxes, the rich has tax shelters and loop holes----GUESS who is left---the middle class. Promises sound good, makes the people flock to hear the great wonders coming their way. Common sense should tell us that all the promises are political propaganda in order to get elected. There are checks and balances in place that prohibit ANY President from making laws or changing things. Congress makes the laws and authorizes how the money is spent. Spending for unneeded pork barrel projects should have an immediate freeze. Government has got to stop the spending of money we do not have---that is what we have do. Suck it up and live within your means.

I don't understand how anyone believes that what either candidate promises during their campaign will actually happen - we should all know that anything they want to do has to pass through senate and congress, our checks and balances could block anything.
I don't see how he can cut taxes and do everything he says he wants to do without our economic woes, through in all of what we are facing and a tax cut is a far cry! Lets see we know we just added 750 Billion to the national debt.... that doesn't equate to lower taxes.

He does not need to. He said he will let the Bush tax cuts run out next year and with out lifting a finger, the taxes will be raised and he will blame the Republicans.

I live in a democrat county. My property tax bill is $300 more this year than last. My property isn't worth what it was last year. Go figure.

No candidate can keep every promise they make.
And you can't hold either candidate to promises made before the financial meltdown.
I think that the statements Obama has made SINCE the financial crisis are coming from an educated standpoint. He knows where the economy will be when he begins his term.
I think he'll do everything he can to keep the promises he made after the economic meltdown started.

The Republicans have left everything in such a bad state I don't see how anyone could deliver a tax cut.

Under Bill Clinton the country had its prosperity at its peak
so it tells a lot about Obama

We were much better off when Bill Clinton was President than we are now. Obama can only improve things, they really can't get much worse.
