Atheists, would you risk your life to save a Christian in danger?...?

Christians, would you risk your life to save an Atheist in danger?

Update:

If you do, would you consider that a genetic misfire in a strict sense of Darwinism?

Update 2:

Of course this is a hypothetical question because you wouldn't ask for their belief when action needs to be taken.

Update 3:

People usually do charitable deeds or self sacrificing deeds when it benefits their instict to survive and prosper. How would saving a stranger from a danger be constituted as serving the herb instinct?

    Probably.

Probably, It would depend on the risks involved. It would not at all depend on their beliefs.

Also, It doesn't go against Darwin. We have evolved a big enough brain to see beyond the selfish natural selection style of philosophy, we can empathize!

Edit - I've got a vague memory of something on the Dawkins TV series. What happened is our ancestors lived in family groups and acted to protect each other, thus ensuring their common genes survive to the next generation. This behavior gets passed on as it's benificial. Possibly read "The Selfish Gene" by Dawkins (but possibly not.. I haven't!).

Edit - To those that would always risk your life.. Do you not care about your loved ones feelings? Do you still have both your kidneys/lungs? Would you risk your life for a 5% chance of you and the other person surviving?

Of course I would, this is a very silly question. Very few people would even consider a person's religious beliefs when deciding to take immediate action to save someone. I don't know the religious convictions of strangers by definition, if I knew the person then all the more reason to help them. Their religious beliefs, or lack thereof, simply don't enter into it.

Genetic misfire? No, altruism benefits a species even if that particular individual may be harmed.

I would risk my life to save any of my friends regardless of their religious beliefs.

I'd ideally risk my life to save a stranger in need, no religion discrimination. And no, lol, I wouldn't consider it a genetic misfire.

Depends on the Christian or on the Atheist. If I think they are doing good for society, then yes, I will value their life above my own. If I believe that they are a danger to society then no.

The religion of the person shouldn't be taken into consideration in this type of situation. Only the person his or herself should be considered. Same thing for Muslims, Pagans, Hindus, Jews, etc.

I would risk my life to save anyone! I can't stand seeing people hurt/ in danger. My worst enemy one time had asked me if she could use a computer that I was on, and nobody would let her use theirs.I said yes, I believe all people deserve to be helped.

Nope, I would wait and ask them their religious beliefs before I took action.

Assuming I did know, then yes as it would be the right thing to do. I would not be able to live with myself if I had allowed someone to get harmed when I could have helped.

I would save anyone in danger! I love people regardless of their religious affiliation. Why would I be a hypocrite and hate religious people because they don't believe in what I do?

Yea...I would try to save anyone that was in danger. I probably wouldn't know if they were a christian or not though

  • A man is staggering in the streets. He is sweating profusely and beat red (it is 110 degrees outside). He is about to stumble into the path of a semi-truck. Me being about 5 feet away from him reach forward to grab his arm, but before I do I ask:

"ARE YOU AN atheist OR A CHRISTIAN?"

    ___

    What do you think?
