I believe they would throw up. Espessially Thomas Jefferson and Ole Andy.

Even as late as the early 60's. I remember John Kennedy. EVERYBODY loved that man. In one of his most famous speeches he said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you, can do for your country".Sounds a little conservative doesn't it. In those days if you got a check, you worked for it. There was NO redistribution of wealth.

We don't know what's going to happen to us in 18 days, but it won't be a Thomas Jefferson or an Andrew Jackson.

May God have mercy on our country.

I'm sure they would disapprove of many of the tactics used by the modern Democratic party.

However, I think an equally valid question is "What would the original Republicans, such as Abraham Lincoln, think of the modern Republican party?".

In fact, the true question is "What would the Founding Fathers have thought of modern politics?", completely disregarding political parties (Whigs, Democratic-Republicans, Democrats, GOP, Progressives, etc. - everyone contributes to political mess, not just one single party).

Although, if one brushes up on history, it is well documented that virtually everything despicable happening right now in America has happened in some form or another throughout history - there's no such thing as a perfect government, just ones that appear that way.

How the hell are we supposed to know? Or do you presume to read the minds of the dead?

edit: Try reading? HA! You presume to know if/what I read? Interesting...times are so 100% completely different from then that it's impossible to know. Modern America is presented with issues that these guys would be shocked about. First, probably that we don't own slaves and that a black man is about to become POTUS. It's not relevant what they would think of today's dems...Times and things change and that is a GOOD thing. I would not want the dems of today to be the dems of 1800s...the thought is silly on the face.

Prekinpdx. Try reading. Maybe the Federalist papers or the Anti-Federalist papers.

I think they would be ashamed not at the party itself but rather at the bipartisan we contend with today. This is more of a republic than the original Democrats could have ever dreamed of.

Edit* Except for Madison. That guy was a ******* Nazi. I hate that guy. **** him.

Both original Democrats and republicans would be shocked beyond belief on how corrupt both of their parties have become.

JFK tried to warn us of secrecy in government but he was shot 10 days later... Coinsidence?

I was thinking that about the Republicans, they use to care about the poor and they fought to free the slaves and now they are the worse racists. they use to preach equal rights for all religions and now if your not a Christian your not saved.

They would kick the liberals out or start another party

  • 1 decade ago

They would find a way to achieve power through popular channels, just as they did back then.

  • 1 decade ago

They would be ashamed of the sick joke it has become.

I don't communicate with the dead, so I don't know.
