A Marxist is a follower of the ideology and writings of Karl Marx, who's work was based on equality of all citizens and a form of government which could probably best be described as socialism(note: the way Marx defines communism is different than the type of government used in the USSR, he defines it more as a COMMUNIty style of government where citizen treat each other as they would a neighbor). His works were adapted by Lenin and Stalin, who changed many aspects of his thoughts when they held power in the USSR. Lenin and Stalin deviated from Marx' idealist beliefs about how a country and its people could be equal in order to gain power and justify their (Stalinist) communist reign in the Soviet Union. If you ask me, communism is a perversion of Marxism, and it is my belief that Marxism isn't as bad as it is unrealistic as it relies on people not becoming corrupt when they have the opportunity to do so.

Look up Karl Marx or Marxism in an encyclopedia or on reliable internet sources (not wikipedia haha) to get a better idea of the man and his beliefs. Then you can make your own opinion about Marx and whether Obama is a Marxist or not.

The vast majority of people would asy Obama is NOT a Marxist despite what a few radical conservatives might say. There has never been a candidate for president of the United States that could possibly be called a Marxist. If you look up Marx you will see that linking them proves to be quite a difficult task but I ask you to try to anyway so that you can make up your own belief on the matter.

In November I will be voting for Obama-Biden because I believe that they will lead this country better than McCain and Palin could. By the way, very nice touch to ask who are you voting for, allows you to see bias more easily :D.

Marxist is full Communist, The Communist Manifesto is written by Karl Marx, Obama is a socialist bordering on being a Marxist . Hitler was a Socialst Facist. Marxist and Socialism and Fasism is all so close many people cant really describe the difference in a few short words. Hitler and Stalin at one time were allies during world war two both being Marxist but they did not get along because Hitler was Socialist and Stalin a Communist. If you read Qutations from Chairman Mao you will get an idea of their type of Socialist communism and sometimes think Obama is more that way because he teaches hate for those that have and makes false promise to the have nots. Obamas Book is already being used as a guidline in the education Dept and that will be the modern day version of the Hitler Mein Kompf and the other 2 books I mentioned here

Source(s): Happy Camp found a real awesome example of the true Marxist is why , to Larkins embarasnet of his stupid remark, most of the Reps beleive the same that Obama is lean more towrds Socialist and not quite into Marx teachings. The value of labor as a commodidty was so beleived in the early century that there were established Camps all thru Russia where they had the Utopian Marxist life built , Wonderful apartment buildings for people to live in ( no heat , water , furniture or food on the inside that the visitor could not see) and the labor was intensified to 18 and 20 hours a day and millions of people died from starvation and literally worked to death. Obama wants to ape that type of stuff with his equal living and "working on the roads" , Stalin built roads to nowhere and a million men died building a canal to the City of Stalingrad. So the road thing is where I see the Marxist borderline and I sure the other Reps see similar. This is why Obama is trying to rid America of Joe the Plumber-Obama slipped and told the truth now he is trying to discredit Joe
  • Obama has had strong Marxist influences, though he appears not to be a doctrinaire Communist. Saul Alinski was a major Obama influence in terms of political tactics, and Alinski was an avowed Marxist.

If you look at how the Obama people deal with their adversaries, you can see Alinski's footprint. Alinski said that the most effective political weapon was ridicule. Look at how vicious the Obama people have been to Sarah Palin, and now even poor Joe the Plumber.

Obama's earliest political influence was a man named Frank Marshal Davis. Davis was active in the Communist Party of the U.S. William Ayers, of course, is also a Communist with whom Obama has been very close - his protests notwithstanding.

Now he's smart enough not to advocate nationalization of all industry. But that's a tactical choice. There's nothing whatsoever in anything he's ever said or done to indicate that he believes there's anything beneficial about capitalism.

Class warfare rhetoric is the hallmark of his campaign. The entire campaign is about turning the "middle-class" against the "rich," as if the rich got all their money by stealing it from the middle-class. Resentment against the wealthy is a very key element of Marxist-Leninist agitation and the Obama playbook follows this to a tee.

So is he a Marxist? Possibly not, in the sense that he would not advocate a one-party state. But he clearly IS a socialist in that he believes the state should determine what is produced, how much is produced, and who should get what. Private industry would likely be allowed to exist in his perfect world, for now, but it would produce under directive of the state and at its sufferance.

All-in-all it IS change. He's honest about that. Obama wants to change America from a capitalist mixed-economy to a central planning model. He won't execute his opponents as Stalin and Mao did, though. He'll just make their coninued opposition untenable.

Yes, being a Marxist is much more important. It is the difference in the way in which our government is run. Cuba is a nation run on Marxist principles. Look at all of the people who got out of there and came here, risking their lives to do so.

Read those above me and then listen. Obama said "clinging to their guns and religion". Does that sound like a man who favors religion? Getting rid of guns is one of the first steps to the Marxist taking over a country. That way the people can not fight back. Obama's last comment to Joe the Plumber showed that Obama is a socialist at least, and probably a Marxist. That is why the Obama camp is now attacking the poor plumber and trying to discredit him so people will forget what Obama said.

And to respond to the person that said it is the middle class against the rich. No. It is the poor against the rich. ACORN and other groups of community organizers go into the poor areas of America and work to both improve the standard of living for those folks, and to encourage them to work towards the 'revolution'. A revolution that Ayers would be happy to see here. Do you understand that all you hear about Obama goes together? It is like the handwritting on the wall.

To answer who am I voting for: I am a Democrat who for 40 years have worked for my party and never voted for a Republican. This year I am voting for McCain. I hope that helps you to understand what is at stake in this election. And I am not alone.

Marxism is essentially the pure form of Communism and everything else involved in the Marxist Theory. Look up Karl Marx's works: Das Kapital and The Communist Manifesto.

This country is a Capitalist country. The Marxist Theory has no right to come in and take over.

A marxist is someone who follows the teachings and/or practices the acts of Karl Marx. A key excerpt from the wikipedia link (below) on Karl Marx is as follows:

"Marx argued that capitalism, like previous socioeconomic systems, will produce internal tensions which will lead to its destruction. Just as capitalism replaced feudalism, capitalism itself will be displaced by communism, a classless society which emerges after a transitional period—socialism—in which the state would be nothing else but the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat."

As you can see in link 2, Obama has had at least one communist mentor back in his Hawaii days.

And as you see in link 3, Obama has many socialist plans for the U.S. that will be the transition to communism.

To answer your last question, I'm voting for McCain.

In the pure sense, no. In my eyes he is a communist. The difference is that communists tend to take whatever steps they need to fulfill their goals, no matter what the cost. Just look to the example of North Korea, where the wealth has been fully redistributed, and the people are dying of starvation. That is the final effect of Obama's tax policy.

    Here's and interesting article on

If you are a thinking and compassionate person, you will have a hard time supporting Obama's full stand on birth control. He has a record of blocking legislation to keep babies who survived abortions alive, and has literally cost the lives of thousands of babies.

See this link, it is factual.

Socialized medical care sounds like a great idea, but it has been very bad for one of my friends. He married an English girl, and is now living there. When he got sick a couple of years back, it took months to get in to see the doctor, and then they gave him a bad diagnosis. He finally got desperate enough to pay for private medical care, and nearly died. The plan that Obama is putting forth will have that same effect here. People will die while waiting for substandard care. I will say that this problem needs to be addressed, but not from the communist perspective.

I don't think Obama is a marxist, and most people that say he is one also say he is a socialist, as if the two are inter-changeable. What this tells me, who has actually read some of Karl Marx's writing's (I'm a capitolist by the way, I just like to be well read) is that they have no clue what they are talking about. Even a basic study of Karl Marx reveals that he was opposed to socialism (not the same as communism, which he was obviously for) and didn't think it would work.

The term marxist came from Karl Marx who defined communism.

    Read this

Capitalism is distinctive, Marx argues, in that it involves not merely the exchange of commodities, but the advancement of capital, in the form of money, with the purpose of generating profit through the purchase of commodities and their transformation into other commodities which can command a higher price, and thus yield a profit. Marx claims that no previous theorist has been able adequately to explain how capitalism as a whole can make a profit. Marx's own solution relies on the idea of exploitation of the worker. In setting up conditions of production the capitalist purchases the worker's labour power — his ability to labour — for the day. The cost of this commodity is determined in the same way as the cost of every other; i.e. in terms of the amount of socially necessary labour power required to produce it. In this case the value of a day's labour power is the value of the commodities necessary to keep the worker alive for a day. Suppose that such commodities take four hours to produce. Thus the first four hours of the working day is spent on producing value equivalent to the value of the wages the worker will be paid. This is known as necessary labour. Any work the worker does above this is known as surplus labour, producing surplus value for the capitalist. Surplus value, according to Marx, is the source of all profit. In Marx's analysis labour power is the only commodity which can produce more value than it is worth, and for this reason it is known as variable capital. Other commodities simply pass their value on to the finished commodities, but do not create any extra value. They are known as constant capital. Profit, then, is the result of the labour performed by the worker beyond that necessary to create the value of his or her wages. This is the surplus value theory of profit.

    http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/marx/

What it means is that no matter how hard you work, or what you are trained to do all labor should be paid equally, everyone should have the same amount of everything. There is no incentive in that system, no reason to become a doctor, or a lawyer, or try to own a home as all homes and incomes would be the same "redistribution of wealth" is quite simply from the same mindset and it failed in the former USSR they are now Russia. A Marxist USA might be called the USSA the United Socialist States of America, and it can happen. Especially considering that Obama wants to have every student in High school and Middle School do 1000 and 500 hrs of community service education, in which he would have a Federally instated program to place certain ideologies into the youth in our country.

Not to mention the fact that the American people have been arguing about money like never before not on the super rich but within the middle class. Why? Because Obama has threatened our society with socialist taxation and the mindset and theory behind Marxism. His Federal program suggest that he also wants to include communism and Fascism, which is the government controlling the people, who have nothing but what the government gives them. This election is more important than any in my lifetime because it could be the end of the American Dream and brought to us by a man who has been schooled as a child in Indonesia, and has a Orange Party communist cousin which he campaigned for in Kenya. Look up Odinga.

Marxism - n. The political and economic philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society's allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society. Sounds more like the Bush administration to me. People need to do research before they spout off about Obama being a Marxist. He's far from it. Vote with your heart and mind, not by the opinion of others.
