I want to color my hair dark brown but I need to know if this is a good idea.?
I've got naturally dark blonde hair but I've been coloring it black for almost a year. I'm tired of it being black, but the roots are really bothering me would it be terrible to dye the roots a dark brown to make them less noticeable?

You would still run into the root thing. If you want to grow your hair out to blonde again, how about using a semi permanent hair color? It will wash out in about 4 weeks, you can just keep doing it until all the black on the ends is gone

Personally, I think you should let your hair grow out its natural color for a while. Let your roots grow out healthy, and after maybe a year, go for another color.

I would die the roots a lighter black, or not do anything at all, just leave it and let it grow out is your best bet. Everyone has bad roots after dying their hair m'dear.

first i need to know what color are you dying your hair all over.
if i were you and my hair was naturally blondeish brown and since you dyed it black......what i would do is......buy one of those colors at cvs that you can put streaks in as well maybe something with brown streaks . at least something where you can let you natural color grow back in and it won't look so bad. good luck

if it was only the roots u were dying then it would still be obvious...
you could try a shade of brown for a change

I've done that before. It looked okay, but not perfect. If you're not a perfectionist, you should be happy with it, but if you're the type of girl who's obsessed with how her hair looks, you won't like it.

i think if you're going to do that, you might as well dye all of your hair that colour. just so then it doesn't look funny

Not at all...it would be a way to gradually change from darker to lighter
