Christians...have you ever read the bible from cover to cover? ?

If so, how can you still believe it is the literal word of God. If you don't believe it's the literal word of God, why do you believe it at all?

Ok I am a little confused by your question. At first it seems that you are trying to imply that you have come to the place where you no longer believe that the bible is the literal word of God. But then the second part would seem to imply that it should be taken as the literal word of God. For you are absolutely right, why believe anything it says if it isn't the literal word of God or if it isn't meant to be taken literally? For if it just contains the word of God, how do you determine what parts are and what parts are not the word of God? If not to be taken literal you can make it say whatever you want, at which point truth becomes relative, which would then be contrary to the very word you say to believe, for the scriptures clearly indicate that there is no subjectivity to truth, therefore truth is objective which means that it doesn't depend on our experience, it just is. So what position do you take? Personally I do believe that it is the literal word of God, and why would reading it from cover to cover cause me to believe any differently?

You know something, I have a Year Bible, and have been reading it through every year for the last 25 years or so. But only once I met the righteousness of God, or the gospel of the water and the Spirit (John 3:5), did I begin to understand what I was reading. Before all I was reading was black words on white paper...and not much made sense to me...but now God has given me the keys of the kingdom, and I am only now allowed to open up the hidden things that were locked away from me. This awesome gospel is the original gospel that God gave to mankind...but the devil changed it a long time ago through the then RCC....and it remains like this to this day. This is why all chirches are filled up with sinners.....and the Bible tells us..no sinner can enter the kingdom of Heaven. The devil knows this only too well, this is why he is fighting to keep many people in a stupor.

First of all, which Bible are we talking about ? The New Testament ? The Septuagint ? The Protestant Bible ? … None of these are complete !… Even if you are reading a Catholic Bible cover to cover with a protestant mind set, you are still not getting a full reading of it because without the Sacred Tradition of the Church to guide you through textual problems such as those of Romans(5:12) or John(2:4), what you get out of your reading is a mere projection of your own overnight Christian paradigm. Furthermore, the false problem of handcuffing the biblical reader to literal, typological or metaphorical sense is completely irrelevant as Holy Scriptures always tell the Truth, the Absolute, unshakable unalterable Truth. Now if you think that by coming up with a way of interpreting Holy Scriptures that leads to complete non-sense, you are going to succeed in challenging the validity of the Word of God, then you are up for some disappointment: No one is like unto God ; you cannot defeat Him ; you can only invalidate yourself in the process ; it’s like running into a wall head on.

I've read the KJV Bible from cover to cover, working on my second time, and I still believe that it is the Word of God. How can I not? How can anybody not?

    God bless.

Anyone with the ability can read the Bible all the way through, as I have myself. But the Bible also tells you why some people cannot understand it, it's in Matthew 13. If you read Matthew 13, you get a perspective that may be found throughout the Bible. God chooses who gets to understand it and Him.

As there are several "bibles" in this world representing different takes on "god," to which bible are you referring? I'm assuming you mean the Christian bible, but I had to make this point because most Christians use the word bible as if that's the only one. May I suggest you show more respect for other faiths, it's the Christian thing to do.

How can I take it as the literal word of God when I know it was just many men that were inspired by God and wrote what they felt?

Nope, I rely on my communications with God to learn, not a book.

Yep, I have, although i didn't read it in order and I may have missed a few chapters of Ezekial. LOL

I can still believe that it is the word of God because reading it only proved that to me. In all my years of study I have become more and more sure of the truth of Scripture.

No. i individually might desire to nevertheless. i'm no longer non secular and have no objective of following any faith by any potential, yet I frequently criticise Christianity. i assume I have not got any top to accomplish that if i've got on no account even study the bible.
