My Christian friends can’t answer this question?
I asked this question to my Christian friends, and trust me, they couldn’t answer.
I showed them:
JOHN
16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
I asked them who is the Comforter referred in the above verse. Without hesitation, they said the Holy Ghost/Spirit. I asked them why the Holy Ghost/Spirit? They said it is the Holy Ghost/Spirit, that’s what they were taught. I told them to read this particular line “It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” I asked them, from this verse, isn’t it CLEAR that the COMFORTER has not come as yet? They said yes, obviously. Why must Jesus then say that he had to go in order for the Holy Ghost/Spirit to come? Definitely, the COMFORTER has not come yet.
I referred them to:
. ... and he (John the Baptist) shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. Luke 1: 15
... and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost. Luke 1: 41
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost. Luke 1:67
I told them these incidents were before Jesus.
I also showed them the following:
... and the Holy Ghost was upon him (Simeon).Luke 2:26
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him (Jesus).
Luke 3:22
But if I (Jesus) cast out devils by the Spirit OF God, then the kingdom of God is come upon you. Matthew 12:28
But if I (Jesus) by the Finger Of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. Luke 3:22
I said these were during Jesus’ time. As the Holy Ghost/Spirit was already there before and during Jesus’ time, I asked them, how then the COMFORTER could be the Holy Ghost/Spirit? They couldn’t answer. But then, one of them said that the Holy Ghost actually came to the apostles at Pentecost. I asked what did the Holy Ghost say to the apostles? He just kept silent. I supposed he might not have known.
I referred them to the following:
John
16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
16:13 Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.
16:14 He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
I told them, Jesus said that he had many things to say but not possible at that time and that the Spirit of Truth will come and continue the mission. I asked them, so what did the Spirit of Truth or according to you the Holy Ghost/Spirit tell you so far which Jesus had not said. Is it in the Bible? They said not that they know of.
I referred them again;
1 John
4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
I said your Bible says to try the Spirit and that a False Spirit is a False Prophet and a True Spirit is a True Prophet. And a Spirit or Prophet who confesses the coming of Jesus is a True Prophet. Isn’t that what the above verses mean? They said yes.
I referred them yet again:
“Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.” (Quran Aale Imran verse 45)
The above verse was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which confesses the coming of Jesus. As per your Bible, I asked them why don’t you try this Test on Muhammad?
As all Christians answer, they said they have to check and will get back to me tomorrow. What do you think, Christians and Non-Christians, does the above explanation make sense?
The question is "How could the Comforter be the Holy Ghost/Spirit"

You are making it too complicated. The Comforter is not the Holy Spirit, it is the Grace of God, which came upon the death of Jesus for our sins.

True salvation has not yet been completed, Did you know that John The Baptise was filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother's womb & Jesus received the Holy Ghost when he was baptized. Therefore there is many verses in the bible that Jesus told them to receive ye the Holy Ghost, But Jesus was pointing to a future event, Because the complete work of salvation would not be complete without Jesus being risen from the dead & ascending to heaven to be glorified by the Father, & then on the day of Pentecost is when the New birth took place, little do you know that the Holy Ghost is the self same spirit of God. So No the complete plan of salvation was not yet complete, But Yet John & Jesus was filled with the Holy Ghost. Jesus even told Peter after Peter had follow Jesus for a long time, Jesus said Peter AFTER you are converted, (Received The Holy Ghost) to strenghten thy brother. So your question is how can the comforter be the Holy Ghost.? Read John 14:16-18 Come on now read it, who is the comfort or, It is the Holy Ghost or may I say the self same spirit that dwell in Jesus & John the Baptise, before the day of Pentecost & in every true believer from the day of pentecost up until now, So your Mohammed is not the comfort or. & NO your way of explaining it is NOT correct. Here is one Christain that you can not fool.

John 7:39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, WHICH IS THE HOLY GHOST, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
There is a difference between indwelling and infilling.
Here they received the Holy Spirit.
John 20:22 And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
Here they were filled with the Holy Spirit after Christ left.
Read Acts 1 and 2 to see when this happened.
Before Acts 2, filling with the Holy Spirit was more of an exception than a rule. After Acts 2 many were filled.

While Christ was on earth there was no need for the (Holy Ghost) comforter when in his presents, Christ is in all things, over all things, sees all, knows all, and his spirit served the same purpose. When he was to leave, the Holy Ghost wold make its appearance.
Also there is a difference in the Gift of the Holy Ghost as you refer here and have the Holy Ghost with you. One holding the Keys and authority gives the Gift which is the constant companionship . If you do not have the Gift, the HG will not stay.
Confessing that Jesus is the Christ is only the beginning,. ow you have to follow that Prophet (Christ) and the church should resemble His church in the Meridian of time complete with continuing revelation, Prophets, Apostles, 70's, miracles, gifts, healing, Priesthood, temples and all such. The HG was present but it did not stay. moo-sill-im religion is missing the continuing enfolding of events, has part of the truth and has stopped in its progression, all the above must continue.
What the Spirit of Truth told them was how to keep organizing the growing church, and how to keep themselves clean from the world.
The Holy Ghost does not speak, it give knowledge and power to the heart and mind as at Pentecost.

You post at least two questions that I will do my best to answer:
1. John 14 and the promise of the Comforter. Jesus is specifically talking to the 12 who we most often refer to as the apostles. Jesus is telling them that when He is no longer physically with them, they would not need to fear, God would not leave them without someone to help them understand and teach what Jesus taught them. Jesus referred to this personality as Another Comforter. That would be the Holy Spirit that would come upon them specifically and guide them as they led followers in the infancy of the church (see Acts 1 and 2 for the coming of this Comforter in fulfillment of what John records in John 14).
2. 1 John 4:1-2. Just because words are said, does not mean one is actually confessing a solidly held belief. I cannot judge the motives nor the heart of the proclaimed prophet Muhammad. The words were said, but did he believe Jesus is the Christ? If he truly did, then he would not claim, nor would his followers that Jesus is simply another prophet leading to the supposed "last" prophet - Muhammad. His actions speak louder than the words his mouth or pen formed.
These are my quick answers. I will check back to see if you want any clarification from me.

This what it means, John 16:7 means Unless Jesus did what he came to do, there would be no Gospel. If he did not die, he could not remove our sins; he could not rise again and defeat death. If he did not go back to the Father, the Holy Spirit would not come. Christ's presence on earth was limited to one place at a time. His leaving meant he could be present to the whole world through the Holy Spirit.
16:8-11 means: Three important tasks the Holy Spirit are (1) convincing the world of its sin and calling it to repentance, (2) showing the standard of God's righteousness to anyone who believes, because Christ would no longer be physically present on earth, (3) demonstrating Christ's judgment over Satan.
Hope this Helped and answered the question!!!! God Bless

I do not know just what you are trying to find out. As far as I am concerned, the answer is easy. The Holy Spirit has already arrived and is doing the work it was assigned; which is, final sanctification for entry into heaven. Each person of the Trinity mutually agreed upon a specific role to play. Creation has been assigned to God the Father. Salvation to the God the Son in the form of Jesus. And Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit through the Catholic Church to teach all all things now since we are now qualified to enter Heaven through the dead and Resurrection of Jesus. All the articles of faith and documents of infallibility have been inspired by the Holy Spirit in carrying out his role as teacher & Sancifier. We are now living in the age of the Holy Spirit in the final chapter of our earthly existence.

The comforter can be the Holy Ghost because that is what Jesus said, and if you are a Christian you believe in him, and if you are a Muslim as you appear to be, you at least believe he is a prophet so either you can believe him or follow your own way.
John 14
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The Holy Ghost is the medium through whom God and his Son, Jesus Christ, communicate with men and women upon the earth. All men are enlightened by the Spirit of God, or Light of Christ—sometimes called conscience. Job stated, “But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding” (Job 32:8). This is the Spirit of God emanating from Deity. This power of God is the means by which every man is enlightened, the wicked as well as the good, the intelligent and the ignorant, the high and the low, each in accordance with his capacity to receive the light.
The Gift of the Holy Ghost
The ministrations of the Holy Ghost are, however, limited without receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Many have received revelation from the Holy Ghost, convincing them of the truth of the gospel. Cornelius, as well as many in attendance on the day of Pentecost, received the Holy Ghost before baptism (see Acts 2:1–12; Acts 10:30–44). It is through this power that seekers after truth acquire a testimony of the principles of the gospel.
The gift of the Holy Ghost comes after one repents and becomes worthy. It is received after baptism by the laying on of hands by those who have the authority. On the day of Pentecost, Peter instructed those who had previously been touched spiritually by the Holy Ghost, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38). Those possessing the gift of the Holy Ghost can come to a greater light and testimony. The Holy Ghost bears witness of the truth and impresses upon the soul the reality of God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ so deeply that no earthly power or authority can separate him from that knowledge.

The question seemed pretty lengthy and I hope my answer covers this. Yes, this "comforter" or the Holy Spirit has been around. But as you notice in the Old Testament, it mentions it only sparingly. It wasn't until in the New Testament at Pentecost that the comforter was there for eveyone who accepted Christ as his saviour. Jesus is the word and the word is with us. That word, the bible and the testimony of Christ, lives in us through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to us that we have the power to preach to and heal all around those around us. We don't have the power, only Jesus can give us that through his Holy Spirit. He also gives us the wisdom through that same Holy Spirit to speak the truth to others.

The comforter/Paraclete passages have been a source of mystery to scholars for a long time. It does seem in these passages that the Paraclete is an actual entity, not the Holy Spirit. But nothing about this has made it down to us.
The traditional Christian interpretation is that the Paraclete is a role for the Holy Spirit, which is why it is referred to in the future tense. The interpretation that this might be Muhammad has always seemed forced to me. If Jesus wanted to tell Christians that Muhammad would be sent to comfort them some time in the future, I wouldn't have expected that passage.

so whats the question?
a) is this true?
Yes this is true for the parts of your refference I've read that the bible tells the truth of what happend.
b) did these people truely get filled with the Holy spirit before jesus was born?
Yes because the holy spirit is like your soul, it is the soul of god and before jesus was born he would impose nicely the spirit unto those who he saw as worthy and devoted to him. sometimes maybe by an angel blessing the person and baptizing the person.
I hope I have answered your question if not I'm sorry I have a phoebea of reading loaded articles.
