Why are the Democrats waiting until AFTER the election to hold Fannie and Freddie hearings?
Excerpts:
Democrats are giving Republicans the hearing they’ve been demanding to dig into the failures of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but it won’t happen until after the election.
House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) Monday announced that he will hold a hearing into the collapse of the mortgage giants on Nov. 20, and plans to call several of the firms’ ex-CEOs, including Fannie Mae's Franklin Raines.

Is it possible that the outcome of this hearing, if held before the election, could somehow sway this election? What are your thoughts?

placing thumb and fore finger on chin. Hmmm. I can't imagine it would have anything at all to do with the fact that Democrats are up to their elbows in the causes of these economic failures isn't? I can't want to hear what Barney (ole snagle puss) Frank has to stutter!

Mainly because it would be pointed out that the rules which allowed the loans which have caused the problem were the direct result of Democratic Party demands and were passed by them to force loans to very shaky/questionable risks. The same reason that the "jobs going overseas" and "lack of regulation" are talked about and nothing done as the Free Trade agreements which allowed the jobs to go and the deregulation of banking and loans were done/started under President Clinton and not by the current administration; something the main stream media does not ever seem to want to point out. Regulation and deregulation are Congressional actions and cannot be done by the President. As for lobbyist in the McCain campaign-if research and fair reporting were done then it would be pointed out that the Obama campaign has just as many; simple fact is to run a campaign you need politically knowledgeable people and since people active in the government cannot do it you use those people no longer active and they are almost always lobbyist for some group or another.

Even though Obama and other Democrats may face some real problems by an investigation, even if it were held before the election, I doubt if it would sway it. Everything that has been thrown out about Obama has not done anything to dissuade his ardent followers. There are also some Republicans involved in this, and if a genuine investigation was conducted, plenty of heads would roll, but I seriously doubt that all of the dirty laundry will be aired, no matter when they hold it.

Heaven forbid that the American Public discover the real culprits. It's simply this, HELL YES it would effect the outcome.
Any one person involved in these by taking money, aiding, accepting contributions or whatever it may be.... his political party affiliation WILL effect American opinion. Its a matter of morality which has been my issue with democrats all along...they lack heavily in that department.
BARNEY FRANK!! (cough)
You know what though, on second thought, maybe it wouldn't effect it as much because I feel like Moral America is falling down around us. Obama-Bots have "chosen" to ignore rock hard evidence and focus on nothing but the handout that is promised regardless of who is affected by it.

Isn't it obvious?
If a lot of Republicans were implicated in the failures, the hearing would be happening today.
If they were to do them today, it would cause untold damage to the Democrats, even Obama, if it were allowed to happen now during this election cycle.
We can't put any undue stress on the Democrats now can we? They may cry to their mommies.

Absolutely. The whole Fannie/Freddie fiasco was started under the Clinton Administration. Obama's name is going to be all over it as well due to the extent of his involvement. Democrats are trying to divert attention from that. Lending companies were pressured into giving people loans that could not, and had a history of not paying them back.
What should have been at the forefront of everyone's mind and in the future should remain there is that the Constitution declares the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" not a nice house, free healthcare, and a good paying job. Dems will never recognize that.

I think to hold those hearings prior to the election would air facts about democrats' behavior that is contrary to what they've been bellowing on the campaign for Obama. This contradictory information includes things done and said by Obama himself.
It would be difficult to use the 'do as I say, not as I do' defense for Obama (which is exactly what he's asking us to do, & we seem all to happy to comply).

So they can sweep all the democrat misdeeds under the rug and only find those of republicans.
Both sides have done wrong, but Henry Waxman wil NEVER permit the full truth to be outed.
He is one of the most opinionated people I have ever heard of and has no room in his mind for even a suggestion of a different view.
There is a world of information that is being withheld or hidden from the public that would sway this election.

First because the Congress is in recess and President Bush isn't calling them back as a lame duck
But the main reason is you never want to follow the money this close to an election.........
