The polls don't even tell the whole story. The polls are based on interviews and don't take the ground game into account.
The hidden story is the ground game....polls can't reflect that.
Bush won in 2004 cause of the ground game....calling, phoning, emailing, and pushing people to go and vote. Exciting the base.
Remember when they laughed at Obama for being a 'community organizer'? Well that experience payed off, cause he's got the best ground game of any Democrat ever, and McCain's doesn't come close to how good Bush's was.
The Republican base pretty much hates McCain. They aren't excited and he doesn't have the system Bush had. It's even worse in Red States (like North Carolina, Virginia, etc) where they didn't expect a battle. They have nothing, while Obama has been working on his network there for the last year.

Montana now has two Democrats as Senators, both of whom are well-liked in the state. North Dakota was once one of the most progressive states in the nation and maybe are waking to the fact neoconservatism is not conservatism.
I expect McCain to win both states but by smaller margins than Bush.

I've seen one with North Dakota, recently polled and tied, and South Dakota, not polled in over a month with a big McCain lead. Which means they better poll both again soon, because they can't both be right.

It's a recent development. It shows the race is tightening and may indicate that some Republicans are unhappy with McCain's campaign. What will be real interesting is to see the polls that come out later this week when Powell's endorsement will have had a chance to have an impact.

Montana is a liberal bastian. The inflow from California to Idaho, Colorado and Montana is significant and changing the politics in these places. It's funny they move out of California because of the Liberal Socialist house, senate and often governors office then ruin other states. Why can't they remember why they left.
North Dakota - Is that the one Democrat Leader Tom Daschle was from?

Obama has a political organization that encompasses 50 states. he has an office in every county in every state of the union. That's boots on the ground. (Overwhelming majority of these workers are white and young). So since the primaries they are people handing out leaflets, making calls and raising money. that's where in money advantage will show on election day. these people already have a turn out plan that they will try and execute on election day. Vote Obama/Biden I already have.

Obama, unlike other Democrat Pres candidates, is employing a '50 state' strategy. He doesn't think that only a certain amount of states are worth fighting for, he thinks all 50 are worth it

The only reason they list those states as toss-ups is that there is no poll data from those states from the polls that those two sites compile and use.

No Republican who is having trouble in states like NC or Indiana can win. Simple as that. Obama is going to get all LBJ on McCain's ****.
