Questions about back and rib pain?

Hi there I am 34 weeks pregnant and have started having a lot of rib pain and back pain. My ribs feel like they are being pulled apart, and my back feels like everything is getting scrunched together. Is there anything that I can do to help alleviate some of this pain? Can I use a heating pad? Will tylenol help? I am desperate for anything that will help because I just cannot seem to get comfortable. Also just for fun, how far along are you, and what is your worst pregnancy symptom?

You can take tylenol if you think its bad enough, but not anything else for pain relief (sorry!)

Also try a heating pad. Yes you are able to use one. It takes away some of the pain for me.

Go to a chiropractor (Make sure to tell them you are pregnant)-They can do anything but not ultrasound treatments on you.

When you are laying down on your back, put pillows under your calves. Almost so your knees are at a 90 degree angle with the floor/bed.

Do "pelvic tilts"-15 reps in the morning and 15 reps at night. Lay on your back on the ground with your knees bent. Arch your back up, then tilt your pelvis up and do them slowly.

Lay on your back and have your knees up-put one ankle on the other knee and let your foot that is up on the knee fall to the side it is facing. Hold that stretch for 30 seconds. Repeat on the other side. Do once in the morning and once at night.

I am 21 weeks and from 6-13 weeks my worst symptom was "morning" sickness, but since 4 months my back hurting has been my worst symptom, so I totally know where you are coming from.

    Good luck & Congrats!

EDIT: If you are laying on your side-put a pillow in between your knees to support your back.

EDIT AGAIN: LOL-Go lay down by a door frame, have one leg down, one leg up against the door frame, so your legs are making a 90 degree angle, or close to it, hold the stretch for 1 minute on each side one time in the morning and one time at night.

I am 26 weeks pregnant with twins, and measuring 6 weeks ahead, so almost on parr with you. I am also getting bad bad back and rib pain where one of my babies has started kicking all the time!

I find that a heat pack works pretty well, but I have had to use paracetamol a few times at work and an night to help me sleep. I don't want to use drugs, but sometimes you just need to...

My husband is great and gives me a back massage most nights, so maybe you can get your partner to do the same?

Although I am starting to get really uncomfortable, my worst symptom yet was puking right through the first trimester - gross.

  • well im almost 16 weeks and with this pregnancy i think the hardest thing for me was the first 2 or 3 months i was extremly tired all the time all i wanted to do was sleep, and i have 2 boys so that made it even harder. otherwise i dont have to many symptoms and no morning sickness! : )

  • I've been getting the same aches especially my ribs. Don't know what will help it but im pretty sure tylenol will help. My worst aches are my ribs.

Before my son was born, I had the same pains off and on for about a week before he was born. They might have been braxton-hicks contractions
