Do you suffer from any recurring dreams?

Recurring Dream

All through my life I've had same dream

it awakens me in shivers and gasps

down dark alley in the night alone I walk

when viciously attacked by angry villain

I open my mouth in silent scream

bewildered that in fright I cannot yell

take deep breath in another attempt

but nothing escapes my lips

a knife I find within my grasp

with survivor's strength I yield

point of blade fails to penetrate

with each frantic stab I make

it's as if his chest is of steel

again my eyes must deceive

I know I'm stronger than that

but skin shaft only glances

nary a scratch I make

across from desk of specialist

dream interpretation trained

I learn of meaning so clear

and wager I am not the only

poet who's known this dream

he told me I have a fear

of never being heard

I suffer from deep anguish

of not getting point across.

I'm with Mixtli, your messages are well received.

I used to have one that I either lived in or was visiting an absolutely monstrous house. I'd wander around, thinking I knew where I was going and the rooms would continually change to other rooms. I once discovered a hidden staircase that led from an upper bedroom to a part of the kitchen I'd never seen before. I was never scared, just lost and confused. No clue what it means.

*Who was the woman who kept adding on to her house? She lived alone after her husband died or something, had hoards of money...never left the house...Dang it, I can't remember the whole story...Any clue what I'm talking about?

I have a recurring dream. I would have it 4 to 5 times each week for over 20 years. I now only have it 3 or 4 times a year. Always the same dream. A village of people, about 60 of them, all women and children, and all mutilated horribly because a North Vietnamese soldier found an American candy bar wrapper on the ground. I cannot save any of them, they are all dead. Then a huge explosion and there are piles of dead laying all around me. That's when I wake up and find that it is not just a dream, but a memory.

My dream was I was in a tavern, I was wearing a long skirt, the fabric was coarse.the petticoats heavy and dirty.I had heavy shoes on my feet.I could smell ale or something like that. The bodice on my waist was tight and I was having trouble breathing. There was men's laughing voices, the tables were large and looked like old timber.I could see feathers in hats of dark colours. The plates were pewter.I could hear horses coming outside and I could hear a sign swinging outside, creaking in the wind. All these senses came to me over a period of many years of dreaming the same dream. When I was in the dream,I would go through each of these senses and then say to myself, go see what the sign says, that way you will know where you are.Always as I headed to the door, I would wake up.

Ten years ago I went to England on a vacation.First visit there.I was on a walking tour around some quaint old areas of London.I turned a corner and the hair on my arms stood up.I felt like I was going to faint.I grabbed my comrade and she set me down on the curb.I sat there for a moment to get my breath and I heard a sign above my head swinging in the wind.

It read "The Black Swan"The dream raced through my mind, this is where I am in my dream. I know I was there before.Call me nuts if you want to, but I have never had that dream again.

that was truly beautiful and moving, also very captivating.

I had a dream last night that I was for some reason in the 'hood' of our town and I wrecked my car because I was shot at by Obama supporters and I was trying to get away. And I called my hubby to come and pick me up but he was too busy having an affair. Does that make any sense at all?

As a child and teen I used to have one dream over and over. I was running across yards and there was a figure chasing me. I was probably 4 years old in the dream and I hit a pot hole in the yard. My ankle twists and I fall to the ground. That is when I wake up.

Your point rings loud and clear. But I have never had a recurring dream. However, last night I dreamt I was dying...not sure what to think of this one.

I never really have the same dream, but the theme of death is reoccuring. Often I am drowning or falling from high places.

I related alot to what you wrote. You conveyed your feelings very well

Mine is of being chased whether it be swimming away from someone or something. Running or flying from someone or something.

Below are some interesting sites of dream interpretation.
