quotes and opinions on ART?
I am doing some coursework and I need some quotes/opinions on Art...
Such as, why is art a good activity? how does drawing benefit the person? etc.
I cannot find anything ANYWHERE on the net.
Must be a well known person's opinion...

I just tried to google it, but I didn't see anything either. My only suggestion would be, if you have time, is to go to the library and look through some books about artists. Good Luck.

"As we advance in life it becomes more and more difficult, but in fighting the difficulties the inmost strength of the heart is developed."
Vincent Van Gogh
"Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art."
Leonardo da Vinci
"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary."
Cecil Beaton
And of course:
"Art- just simple lines with different shades of colour...nothing special."
Espio =D
Just draw anything, even doodles. It's easy, as picking up a pencil/pen and paper, then do what you want! Shapes, wiered doodles, the works! Anyone can do it, never limit yourself to other people's work. In life, there are no such things as perfect art. Also, don't only look at "great people's" art, look at ordinary people's art, kids, adults, anyone! Art is who you are, it's your identity, it's what makes you, you!
Hope this helps ^.^

i draw so ill tell you what i though, even though im not well know :P
in my opinion, art conveys your inner emotions. it allows you to express yourself through your own creations, rather than words. when drawing or creating any form of art, its up to you to control the outcome, and that's not always to be said in real life. you have the power to portray any feeling you may have, any emotion, any problem. your soul is basically poured on a piece of paper, and you convey to anybody looking at your work your thoughts, opinions, anything you like.

They are languages that all people speak that cut across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers and enhance cultural appreciation and awareness.
They are symbol systems as important as letters and numbers.
They integrate mind, body, and spirit.
They provide opportunities for self-expression, bringing the inner world into the outer world of concrete reality.
They offer the avenue to "flow states" and peak experiences.
They create a seamless connection between motivation, instruction, assessment, and practical application--leading to deep understanding.
They are an opportunity to experience processes from beginning to end.
They develop both independence and collaboration.
They provide immediate feedback and opportunities for reflection.
They make it possible to use personal strengths in meaningful ways and to bridge into understanding sometimes difficult abstractions through these strengths.
They merge the learning of process and content.
They improve academic achievement -- enhancing test scores, attitudes, social skills, critical and creative thinking.
They exercise and develop higher order thinking skills including analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and "problem-finding."
They are essential components of any alternative assessment program.
They provide the means for every student to learn.

In my opinion (I'm not well-know), art is a way of expressing yourself. Here are some quotes, mainly by Auguste Rodin a French scuptor because I think he sums it up nicely:
Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which Nature herself is animated. -Auguste Rodin (French Scuptor)
Art is making something out of nothing and selling it. -Frank Zappa
To the artist there is never anything ugly in nature. -Auguste Rodin
I invent nothing, I rediscover. -Auguste Rodin

Art is a way to bring people together. No matter who we are or where we all come from, art brings us all together. It's a form everyone can understand.
Art is a non-violent way of expressing yourself.

"Art is a window to the soul." Whoa, did I just say that? Art allows people to express themselves in a way outside of their minds. Whether they are able to adequately portay the image in their mind onto their choice of medium is up for debate.
